This incredible couple is clearly head over heels in love with each other, which made my job easy! The star of the first part of the shoot was Arya, Mac’s son. He turned out to be a natural in front of the camera, he was all smiles and charm. Capturing them as a family added something extra special to this shoot. It’s not every day that you can do an engagement AND a family shoot at the same time! One of my favorite moments is when Arya put a rose behind Alex’s ear. You can tell in the photos what a sweet moment this was! After 30 minutes, Arya went home with grandma while the three of us headed to Enchanted Rock.
We had a blast climbing all the way to the top! Normally people would do this in hiking boots and shorts, but this adventurous couple conquered it in their nice attire. Did you notice that Alex was even wearing heels? She made it look effortless with her yellow dress in the wind. They definitely stood out amongst the grey rocks, I think people could have noticed this beautiful couple from miles away! We shot for an hour as we walked higher and higher, and the views at the top made it all so worth it!
One thing I appreciated about Alex and Mac is that they were so willing to try new things and didn’t get stuck in the same pose. I wanted to capture them from different angles, especially since the surroundings were so beautiful and diverse. They really brought their whole heart to this shoot. I can’t wait to capture their big day!
It was a Friday night at a restaurant/bar in The Domain in Austin, TX. Last minute decision to go out after getting back from a work trip and Alex was having a girl’s night out. Classic story of eyes met from across the room and inseparable conversation ensued.
Our relationship was easy from the start. We prefer to do everything together, and it helps we share a love for traveling to warm places, a nice bottle of wine, buttery seafood and wearing robes on rainy days to watch scary movies. What we don’t share, we find balance. Alex gets all of my cheese on a charcuterie board and I get to finish the desserts.
Aside from being a destined duo with our names Alex & Mac and our last names, for now, are Sweet & Hart, we knew we were the ones for each other over Thai food. Carelessly laughing til bellies and cheeks ached forgetting about the delicious food and forgetting that we were in a crowded restaurant. I was also lucky to see how Alex would be as a mother. I have a 6 year old son. To see how Alex took on that role so effortlessly and see how much he loves her has me falling in love again and again.
The proposal was a surprise. I proposed to Alex at a winery/vineyard in Gruene, TX. I planned a weekend trip to San Antonio, Tx and to stop in the hill country along the way. We were sharing a bottle of Maomi wine and taking pictures outside in front of the vineyard. I then asked a couple if they could take a picture of us and I used that time to get down on one knee and pull out the ring.
We did some ring shopping before I actually picked one out. I took several aspects of ring designs she liked and had a custom build. Trying to match the brilliance of her beauty, the end product is 2 carats emerald cut diamond halo with diamonds in the band.
We are deep in planning mode for our wedding in November 2019. Being both natives to Austin, Tx, we chose an outside wedding in a stunning garden venue in Austin.
