James and Allie’s AMAZING Yosemite engagement session was incredible and I think I am not only in love with this COUPLE… but also YOSEMITE!!! When Allie mentioned that her and her family have been visiting Yosemite her entire life and that it was her DREAM location for their engagement I was ALL IN!! This was my very first time up to Yosemite, so I figured I would bring along the hubby and munchkin too and get some good ole quality road tripping in! James and Allie decided to make a weekend of it as well, and we met up with them on Day 2 over at their cabin located in the heart of it all… and let’s just say my jaw literally dropped!
This place is MAGICAL… end of story… and as if it couldn’t get any better, my couple happens to be even more magical!! I mean to be totally honest.. I already knew this from the first time we spoke, so it wasn’t much of a surprise! When we arrived Allie knew that Cash and Rich would be with me… so she is the SWEETEST ever and got him this little Yosemite Activity book to do with Rich while we were shooting… It was adorable and Cash had sooo much fun exploring with us and completing the book as we went… And then she hands me this RAD Yosemite bag filled with everything you could ever dream of wanting while camping!! Tasty beer, YUMMY margaritas, trail mix, marshmallow roasting sticks, all of the fixings to make smores, chips, and REESES PEANUT BUTTER CUPS… she already knew me!!! And the sweetest card ever!
Honestly it was so perfect and we LOVED it!! So we got started, as Allie knew exactly where she wanted to shoot being the “Yosemite” expert… and we were off!! There were a HUGE amount of laughs, tons of smiles, lots of prickly’s, and then there was me literally gagging to death as a gnat literally flew into my throat and REFUSED to come out as I was yelling out to James and Allie… You guys… I literally was DYING and it would not. come. out. ! SO much for first impressions with your clients lol – they know me on a whole new level… We ended the most amazing sunset session with dinner at a local pizza place that had the TASTIEST pizza and Margs ever!! Serious perfection???????????
James and I first met while we were both working at Trader Joe’s. One of our mutual friends working there came up to me saying he thought James and I would be great together. Then on another occasion went up to James and said, “Why don’t you and Allie just get together already?? There are fireworks anytime you are together!” But even after that we just stayed good friends for almost 4 years.
One of my favorite parts of our relationship is that we were friends first. We learned everything about each other, built our trust, and shared so many memories as just friends. I believe that it helped build a much stronger foundation for our relationship than if we just started dating right away. Other than that, we love to travel together. We did long distance for awhile in our relationship so instead of always flying to see each other where we were living, we would meet each other in new places. Trying to make the best of a “not ideal” situation. One of our favorites was London!
I knew James was the one pretty early on. I just had this feeling that I didn’t want to do life without him. He was always the first person that I wanted to tell exciting news to, the person I wanted comforting me when horrible news came, or who I could spend hours with and it never felt long enough. It became even more obvious to me when he moved half way across the country to Texas for school and work. Having to say goodbye to him at so many airports continued to get harder with each goodbye; I just knew I never wanted to spend another day without him.
Well this is a fun story. We had talked about getting married and we knew we would one day but when was the question. One night we were at home on the couch and I asked James when he wants to get married. His new go-to line was, “2024 sounds like a good year.” That was years aways and I was not excited about that. Me, being a bit over emotional like I always am, asked if he was going to break up with me because I had been having nightmares of that happening. James said of course not and eventually calmed me down. The next thing I know I look up and he is on one knee in front of me with a ring in his hand and said, “This isn’t how I was planning to ask you but I don’t want you to ever feel this way. Will you marry me?” I started crying all over again. Obviously I said yes… and I’m sorry for messing up his proposal. He had the ring for over a month in our closet, planning the right time and I had absolutely no idea.
James had my ring custom made and it is more beautiful than I could ever have imagine! He knew exactly what I dreamed of and made it come to life. It is a single round cut diamond in the middle with small diamonds on the band on both sides. All the heart-eyes!
We are having an outdoor wedding (praying for good weather) in Temecula, California. The most important thing for us is to have a relaxed day full of fun and celebration with all the people we love most. We are a little more than 100 days away right now… it is getting so close!
