Knot Just Any Day met up with the sweetest couple, Mandi and Shaun, at Kennett Square’s famous Longwood Gardens for the most elegant of engagement sessions. Longwood Gardens, being a global leader in horticultural excellence, always provides the most epic scenery to incorporate into any photo shoot. Enter Mandi and Shaun, dressed to the nines and bursting with love and laughter! They had so much fun just being together, dancing, and exploring every nook and cranny the gardens have to offer. They even surprised us with an outfit change right before the Festival of Fountains; a magical show at Longwood involving epic fountain and light displays. We cannot wait to see what they have in store for their wedding day, but we know for sure that it will be epic!
I met Shaun through two of our close mutual friends, Mark and Ashley. We starting talking to each other through text one night when I was out of town at a Flyers hockey game in Philly with our friends and he had just returned home from a life-saving kidney surgery where he was the donor. Ashley had confirmed to me that he was single and from that night on, there hasn’t been a day that went by where we didn’t speak!
Honestly, the fact that we both get to be our weirdest selves around one another is the best. We both have pretty different interests, but the fact that we are willing to try new things for each other, I think that is important. At the same time, there are things we have in common! Like our crude sense of humor, love for music and animals, being fit and active, and just wanting to live a fun and happy life together!
From the moment I saw him I was definitely attracted to his looks, I was just hoping that our personalities and senses of humor meshed well. After a couple of dates, I remember sitting next to him on the couch and saying “I like you so much already,” I just blurted it out! It was one of those things where I feel like it was instantaneous love, and to have someone continue to live up to your expectations of true love like that, it is like a fairy tale.
Our proposal was a total surprise to me! We were in New York City seeing one of my favorite shows, “Avenue Q” on Broadway, and at the end of the show Shaun asked me if I wanted my picture taken on stage. As I turned around to smile for the camera, there he was on one knee with an open ring box…I think I still have the picture he snapped right before I realized what was going on! Of course I said yes, but we had to wait until we got home and he asked for my dad’s permission before it was legitimate.
Shaun completely picked out everything himself, he actually proposed to me with both the engagement ring and the wedding ring…he had them both! I loved the simplicity of the engagement ring, it looks just like the emoji.
I am super excited to move in with Shaun for a little bit first and save up some money together so that we can have the Wedding day of our dreams! There will definitely be a horse and carriage and a Cinderella ball gown.
