Ashley and Sean decided on historic Elfreth’s Alley followed by Mac Tavern (where they both worked and met) for their engagement shoot. They became friends almost instantly. As time went on, their friendship grew into love. They had an instant connection through Philly Sports. They both bleed green and are avid Eagles and Phillies fans. They commit to attending countless Eagles and Phillies games and at least 1 away game every year. One of their travel goals is to attend an away game at all of the sports stadiums across the country.

After becoming friends at Mac’s Tavern (both were bartenders), the two grew their love first through friendship. Both Ashley and Sean attribute their relationship success to becoming friends first before taking it to the next level.

Engagement day was a complete surprise to Ashley. The proposal took place at one of Sean and Ashley’s favorite restaurants, Dante & Luigi’s in South Philly. It was the day that Ashley graduated from law school. The proposal took place shortly after dinner and was surrounded by close family. To Ashley’s surprise, everyone knew that this day was the big day.

Ashley’s ring is a family heirloom (dating back to the 1940s!) that her grandmother passed down to her. Sean had the wedding band and engagement ring refurbished and resized at his local jeweler on Jeweler’s Row in Philadelphia. Believe it or not, Sean’s jeweler was one of his regular customers at the bar!

Sean and Ashley are super excited to plan the finishing touches for their wedding day. For the most part, the couple has everything figured out. The event will be taking place on a (hopefully) crisp fall afternoon at Fairmount Rowing Association located on Boathouse Row! This location is special to the couple because they both share a love for the Art Museum/Fairmount section of Philadelphia where they have lived together for many years.

Let’s start at the beginning. How did you two first meet?

Sean and Ashley met at a bar… but not the way you think. Sean and Ashley were both bartenders at a fairly well-known bar in the Olde City neighborhood of Philadelphia. They became friends almost instantly. As time went on, their friendship grew into love.

What makes your relationship special? Tell us some things that you both value in your time together. What makes your relationship unique?

Sean and Ashley love to try new restaurants, travel, and binge watch their favorite shows. Sean and Ashley are both avid Philadelphia sports fans (through the highs and the many, many lows) and have attended countless Phillies and Eagles games over the years. Each year they try to attend an away game at a different stadium and hope to one day have attended a game at all of the sports stadiums across the country.

How did you know your partner was the one? When did you first know this in your relationship?

Sean and Ashley cannot quite pinpoint when they knew that they were “the one.” Both feel that they had a strong connection right from the beginning! The two share an inseparable connection that both believe is due in large part to becoming such great friends before diving head-on into their relationship.

Give us all the details about the proposal. How and where did it happen? Was it a surprise? What was the planning process?

We’re all about the bling… Tell us all about that ring!
