Popping the question on the peak of a volcano?! I don’t think anyone can top that. You’d think that Ronnie had that planned for MONTHS… nope. He actually was planning on proposing during their cruise on the way over to Hawaii, but he got too nervous. haha. Too cute!
The most memorable moment of their photoshoot was when I had Audrey jump on Ronnie’s back and had him run down the beach. I think he thought it was a race because he ran so fast! It was HILARIOUS! There was a moment where Ronnie was running so crazy, that Audrey was accidentally choking him in order to hang on! I don’t think I’ve ever laughed that hard during a photoshoot! There was not one dry eye at the time. haha. This photoshoot was hands down one the best engagement sessions I’ve ever had the honor of photographing. From the fun and laughing, all the way to Ronnie and Audrey being tangled in each other during a beautiful sunset, I know that they have unconditional love for each other and I have no doubt that they will last an eternity and that their wedding will be OFF THE HOOK!! I cannot wait!!
Ronnie and I first “saw” each other before we formally met. We were at a mutual friend’s house and just locked eyes, it was the weirdest thing. It was a super intense moment that I remember like yesterday. Following that, we started bumping into each other at house parties and became pretty good friends.
I’d like to think our trust and devotion to one another makes our relationship so special. We were friends for a year or so before we started dating and within that time we shared very raw and beautiful “secrets”. I felt so free that I could share the deepest of my soul with him and feel no judgment. It started a beautiful foundation built upon trust and love.
Ronnie was driving me home one night from a friends party and we ended sitting in his car until dawn talking about our families, ex’s, our dad’s weird similarities and how we never met sooner. We couldn’t get enough of each other and I couldn’t stop thinking about him after that night. We still were only friends.
He proposed on the tallest peak of Maui, Haleakalā Dormant Volcano, at Sunset. IT WAS PERFECT!!! I knew it was coming because my silly fiancé had something large and boxy in his pocket the night before, but didn’t end up proposing that evening as the cruise we took didn’t end up being as romantic as we thought it would, but still had a blast and got a little too drunk. The following evening we’d plan to visit the dormant volcano at sunset, nothing was in his pocket as we were driving up there (of course I looked) so I assumed the proposal wasn’t going to happen that night either. It was a long and windy drive up, but it was so worth it when we arrived. I’ve never seen anything like it, the views were STUNNING. Ronnie didn’t bring a jacket and it was around 40 degrees up there so we were just snuggling together and an older man sat besides us to watch the sunset as well and gave us his blanket. We ended up chatting for a bit and he told us he was with his sister that it was on his bucket list… he then proceeded to tell us he has cancer and I started to tear up. He then told Ronnie how lucky he was to have a woman that had empathy and a beautiful heart and to make sure to keep me close and safe… moments later, just before the sun was about to set, Ronnie asked a lady behind us to take a photo of us. He gave her my phone and after she took the first photo, my phone died and I told him it’s ok we didn’t need a photo but he insisted to grab his phone. As she was telling us to smile, Ronnie got down on one knee and I could barely breathe… I knew he was going to ask, but that still didn’t take away from the surprise or shock. It was the most beautiful moment I’ve experienced. We ended the night in front of our hotel on the beach with some bubbly. Best night so far!
I asked and he delivered! A beautiful Crystal Blue Sapphire engagement ring. I loved the idea of choosing an alternative stone. As I did research, I found that Sapphires used to be the original engagement ring and I loved what it symbolized. The sapphire symbolizes loyalty, faithfulness and trust, everything that Ronnie and I value.
We’re 6 months out and have already picked our venue! Can’t wait to see everything fall into place.
