Beth & Allie cannot wait for their Sugarbush wedding in October! To celebrate their upcoming day, we spent a morning in their hometown moving through some of the locations that mean a lot to them.

Let’s start at the beginning. How did you two first meet?

This is actually a funny story. Both my partner and I are very involved in our flag football league, but we each play for different teams. At the end of every season, there is a huge league party. During this celebration, one of my teammates grabbed me and physically placed me in front of this blonde girl with a cast on her hand and told us that we should talk. My teammate then ran away, leaving us to our very awkward hellos. We tried to talk for a little while but the bar was so loud we could not hear each other. Allie asked for a “rain check“ and turned to grab her phone, but because her dominant hand was in a cast she had to turn completely around to grab it. I took the question and her turning her back to me as being blown off, so I walked away. When Allie turned back around to get my number I was already gone and she was very confused. Luckily she was able to find me later in the night where we could actually have a conversation. We still argue to this day about her turning her back to me (in the most joking of ways).

What makes your relationship special? Tell us some things that you both value in your time together. What makes your relationship unique?

From our first date, we have worked every day to build strong communication and trust. Even if we don’t really know what we are trying to say, we still do our best to talk to the other or listen without judgment. This is the foundation why we have such an incredible relationship. We also bring out the best in each other. I am very optimistic, energetic, and outgoing while Allie is more rational, introverted, and emotionally intelligent. I am constantly making her laugh and lightening up her personality while she grounds me. We complement each other perfectly. In our free time we love playing football, even though we are on rival teams.

How did you know your partner was the one? When did you first know this in your relationship?

We both knew there was something very special on our first date. I am a big extrovert and social butterfly, but could not seem to put a sentence together the first hour of our date. On the other hand, I Allie is more reserved and introverted, but she couldn’t seem to stop word vomiting the whole date. Neither one of us had a clear aha moment, but both agree it was a feeling but started early and gradually got stronger the more time we spent together. It was a natural progression like this was always how it was supposed to be.

Give us all the details about the proposal. How and where did it happen? Was it a surprise? What was the planning process?

There are not enough space in this box to describe the entire event that led up to the proposal but it’s a damn good story. Basically, she proposed to me surrounded by my family with the most adorable video ( which included all of our family and friends)which she set up at Sunset under the special apple tree (it has a lot of meaning to me) at my family’s cabin in North Carolina. I cannot insert the link to the video here, but please email me at so I can share the link with you. It really is adorable and should be seen. It also describes our relationship better than I ever could in words.

We’re all about the bling… Tell us all about that ring!

The ring is her grandmother‘s ring with whom she had a very special relationship. Allie Tells me that her grandmother and I are almost identical personalities, and she would have love me. Allie’s grandmother passed away many years ago, and is greatly missed by her whole family. Before she gave me the ring Allie had her grandmother’s initials carved into the band.

Are you excited to start planning your wedding day? Do you have any ideas in mind yet?

The wedding is less than five months away, so we have already done most of the planning (I hope!!). Unfortunately the pandemic has caused great uncertainty for the phone, but we are going to go ahead as planned and pray for the best! We are getting married at the top of the mountain in Vermont in the fall.
