Estefania is one of my great friends and I was so honored to take her engagement photos. I was so happy that she found Steve. They are so great together. She was born in Chile and moved to the states as a child. I am so happy she met her prince charming. Here is her story.

Let’s start at the beginning. How did you two first meet?

Steve and I met online, through Match.com. I had been a member on Match.com for almost a year. I was losing all hope. After he sent me a really nice opening message Steve and I started talking, and we decided to meet. He was going to be my last date, because I was not going to renew my membership. Also, I had no expectations, as I had no luck beforehand. On the other hand, Steve had just signed up. He had not even been on Match for even a month!

What makes your relationship special? Tell us some things that you both value in your time together. What makes your relationship unique?

Our relationship is special because we are both home bodies, who treasure the time we spent together as a family. I have two children and he has one. We recently moved in together, bringing our families into one. We love watching our favorite shows, traveling, and spending time with our family and friends. Steve and I balance each other very well. Whereas he is more structured than I am, I am more spontaneous than he is. We communicate well, and can talk about anything and everything.

How did you know your partner was the one? When did you first know this in your relationship?

I am not as romantic as Steve. If you ask him this question, he will swear he knew I was the one when he saw me walking in to the restaurant, 20 minutes late, for our first date. For me, I knew he has the one when he told me he would care for my children as if they were his own. This was our third date.

Give us all the details about the proposal. How and where did it happen? Was it a surprise? What was the planning process?

We had dated for a bit over two years by then. We had talked about getting married. During the summer of 2018, my children and I visited my sister in San Diego for about two weeks. While I was down there, he texted me, asking me to make sure to be at his place at a certain time on that next Friday. When I got to his place, I noticed his bedroom door was closed, which I thought was odd, but did not think much of it. He asked me to come meet him by his bedroom door. He went down on both knees, and said to me “will you make me the luckiest man?” He opened the door to this room, and on his bed, he had written, with rose petals “WILL YOU MARRY ME?” Of course I said yes!

We’re all about the bling… Tell us all about that ring!

He had mentioned to me that when he would ask me to marry him, he would give me a one-of-a-kind ring, to match ” a one-of-a-kind woman”. The diamond he used was given to his mother by his father. Funny story, his father had found the diamond while at work! He waited to see if anyone claimed it, and no one did. He then got it appraised and his father was told it was an old diamond cut, dating back to the early 1900’s. He had a ring made for Steve’s mother. Then Steve’s mother gave it to him to give to me. Steve had the diamond set on a white gold band, with two Colombian emeralds on each side. He said the diamond represents me (my birth month of April),and that the two emeralds (his birth month of May) represent him, and how he will always be by my side.

Are you excited to start planning your wedding day? Do you have any ideas in mind yet?

I am very excited and a little nervous. Our wedding will take place on the summer of 2020.
