Jaclyn + Dylan decided on the gorgeous Philadelphia Museum of Art for their engagement session. They could not have picked a better place with the variety of architecture, backgrounds, greenery it is always so easy as a photographer to make some nice artwork for your clients. We started on the back of the art museum steps. Dylan wore a dapper navy blazer and Jaclyn wore a white summer dress.
I loved the easy-going, good-natured mood of this couple, and really felt a chemistry with them as I started their photographs. They had a relaxed comfort with each other and it definitely showed in the photos. Here we are on the back of the Art Museum steps as they shared a tender moment. Since the sun was setting, I knew we needed to do at least one picture with some sun flare! Jaclyn and Dylan wanted some pictures closer to the Schuylkill River Trail so we made our way down toward the water. On the walk down, I saw a brushy area where I thought we would have a perfect opportunity for a portrait.
We are a true millennial love story. We met on the dating app Hinge. Neither of us ever thought online dating would work, but it brought us to each other and the rest is history!
With odd hour jobs, (one of us works night shift and the other days) we really value every moment we get together. From quick dinners when there is only an hour we are both home, to binging Marvel movies during the weekends everything is more fun when we can do it together! We do love games and being competitive with each other; we have a whole game collection and love date nights that involve activities like bowling where we can compete!
For him it was the second date. We went to Barcade and then a beer garden. He just finished whooping my butt at ALL the video games, and we went for a beer to relax. We sat there for about 2 hours having pretty deep conversation that isn’t usual for a second date, and that’s when he knew. It took me a little longer, until our fourth date. We went apple picking then back to my house to bake with the apples. I was living with my parents at the time, and as we were trying to talk and bake my WHOLE FAMILY kept walking through the door, saying hi and asking questions. Dylan took it in stride, talking with my whole extended family like it was totally normal to meet everyone so early in the relationship. But that’s when I saw how easily he would fit into my family, how open, easy going, and funny he was, which is exactly what I was looking for in a partner.
We had just moved in together a month before he proposed. I was completely surprised, I didn’t think it would come that soon! We had a great day together, hanging out and going to the zoo. We were getting ready to go to my parents house for Passover, where his whole family was invited as well. We were getting ready in our room and he put on “Jersey Girl” by Bruce Springsteen and we started dancing. He was saying cute things to me, how happy he was since I had moved in, then got down on a knee!! He told me that the proposal was a surprise, and no one knew so he took my phone so we could “surprise everyone”. We then went to Passover, where everyone instead surprised me at my parents house with balloons and champagne. I was the last person to know! It was the perfect celebration.
It’s a beautiful ring! Cushion cut with a halo of diamonds and a thin band with diamonds on either side. It’s perfect!
We are very excited! We already have the big things, like the location (The Crystal Tea Room) and the date (8/30/2020) taken care of. So now it’s all the fun little details! Planning so far hasn’t been stressful, it’s just been a fun experience we get to do together and with our parents!
