I met Katie and Dylan in Kalamazoo for their engagement session. It’s crazy, because in the fall, photographers are just so tired, however, in the era of overworked, I seem to make my best work. These two were a joy to walk around and get to know, before their big day coming up, but also, we were all so so thankful it wasn’t raining, as it had been for the previous two weeks. They brought their fur-children, we ran around, and got to know each other during the beautiful sunset. It was honestly perfect.
We met in 2017 on Tinder of all places! I was fresh out of school at Michigan State University and still living near campus, working multiple jobs and found myself with no time to go out and meet somebody. I almost cancelled on him multiple times, because, well Tinder, but we went out to dinner and instantly hit it off!
We love craft beer! Brewery hopping and collecting growlers is a huge pastime of ours. Anytime we go somewhere new we try and map out a new Brewery to try. We’re also pretty nerdy. Our living room consists of two flat screen TVs side by side with their own Playstations.
Honestly, I think I knew this after our first date. (He probably has a more realistic answer to this question). I had butterflies the whole night, and he was so respectful, funny, and sweet. I felt like I’d known him my whole life and like I couldn’t imagine a day without him in the future.
Dylan proposed on the middle of the Mackinac Bridge. My family went up over Labor Day weekend to do the annual bridge walk, where they close traffic and let you walk across the entirebridge on both sides. He told me we were going to take a picture together once we got to the halfway point and then he got down on one knee! I was totally surprised, in fact, I thought we were doing one of those pictures where you both jump at the same time!
I adore this ring! It’s simple and romantic, with a slow twist on the sides. Dylan knows how much I love surprises, so he did an awesome job of finding a style that I would love without me figuring out what was happening.
Of course!! We honestly started planning on the ferry ride back to the lower peninsula. We had already decided on a date, color scheme, and bridal party by the time the boat docked. Since then, I’ve kind of taken planning and ran with it. We’re going for a romantic, rustic feel!
