Engagement Story From the Bride-to-Be

I was anxious already for some reason and went into the bedroom to lay down. He called my name got me to come in the living room by luring me with food. A Snickers bar to be exact. I LOVE Snickers bars by the way. He told me that I wasn’t the same when I was hungry, and I needed a Snickers. Ha Ha (not funny). He then started talking in circles, which made me even more anxious. I asked him, “Julian, what are you doing.” He then said, “Well Tom Brady wouldn’t be the only one to get a ring today and then got down on one knee. (I’m a Patriot’s fan). I immediately put my hand over my eyes and started crying. He then asked me if I would marry him and I wouldn’t even look at him because I was trying to make sure he didn’t see me crying. It was at this moment that I realized that I failed as an “emotional thug”. He asked was going to answer him and I shook my head yes and he put the ring on my finger. He said he wanted to hear an answer. Then I said Yes to the rest of my life.

Have you started planning your wedding? If so, share a few details about your big day…

The theme of our wedding is “A Rose Gold Romance”. Our colors include Rose Gold, Burgundy, Ivory, and Gray. The style of our Big Day is elegance with a touch of glam. Our wedding party consists of seven groomsmen and bridesmaids, two flower girls, and a ring bearer.

What are you most looking forward to about your wedding?

Seeing my future husband at the end of the aisle waiting for me to walk down and say “I do”.

What makes your love special?

It is a love made on the foundation of a very strong friendship. We always support each other through rough times and celebrate when times are great. No matter the circumstances we will always be each other’s best friend and be here for one another until the very end.

How did you meet?

It was a fair September night in front of Vanstory Hall on the campus of North Carolina A&T State University. The year was 2010 and everyone was new on campus. They were hanging with their own groups of friends, and the bride overheard a conversation that sounded interesting and decided to join in. The groom then proceeded to introduce himself to the bride and sang to her after expressing his talents and interest. As the night came to an end after a long walk around the campus, the groom carried his future bride up to her floor and parted with a “good night”. On August 31st, 2017 the future Mr & Mrs. Armstrong decided to their friendship to the next level and have been together ever since.
