Meredith and Omar have loved each other for over nine years. It’s only right to celebrate their engagement with a shoot that represents their compassion and admiration. It fills our hearts every time we see love like theirs. That is why we are pleased to share their story.

Meredith and Omar had gone years without knowing that their paths have crossed more than once. I mean they went from grade one through eight without seeing each other for goodness sakes. Not to mention that they lived ten minutes from each other! We know! Destiny didn’t stop there and decided their paths would cross once more when they went out dancing with mutual friends. Omar decided to get the conversation going that night by cleverly asking about her triathlon sticker. As time when on, they grew to care for each other as well as expand their knowledge about each other’s culture.

The rest is history. Wait, but it’s not over!

Time to discuss their engagement story, YAY!

Omar, you sneaky groom! We must say, it’s simply amazing how you got her to pick her dream ring without raising suspicion. Then, you made her wait EIGHT LONG MONTHS! Nevertheless, the wait made it more worthwhile.

We’ll set the mood.

It was the day of Meredith’s Master’s graduation at her Yacht club, surrounded in a place that brought her so much joy in earlier days. After dinner, the lovebirds went onto a sunset cruise on the lake encompassed by friends and family. Finally, it was time. Omar cleared a side of the deck and asked her to join him, where he began giving her a speech of how they were meant to be and how proud he is of her accomplishments, aww! Subsequently, he was on one knee and asked her to spend all their days together as an engaged couple and future husband and wife. She tearfully said, “Yes, of course!” and hugged and kissed him like never before. We CANNOT wait to see them tie the knot on their big day on October 5th in the Yacht Club where he proposed!

During the shoot, we noticed a few differences that Georgia had from Florida. First, the warm look that fall gave us. This beautiful landscape plus the amazing light complimented their skin in a magical way. Next, on our journey, the couple was photographed behind this brick building in the Yacht Club that Meredith’s parents are a part of.

Oh, and we can’t forget about her father’s boat! This vintage blue-green Chris Craft boat contains a more sentimental value that we could possibly understand. Here on multiple occasions, she was photographed with a lovely rose. Then, Omar set up a romantic and cozy picnic by the dock and was celebrating with glasses of champagne.

We remember that she told us the funniest story of her extensive search for a couple of champagne glasses. In short, she couldn’t find any and, according to her, ended up getting the cheesiest glasses that were available. Lol. It turns out that these heart-filled glasses photographed and contrasted beautifully with their navy blue outfits.

Let’s start at the beginning. How did you two first meet?

We met through mutual friends, and we were all going dancing that night. Omar came up to me and asked me a simple question about my triathlon sticker on my back window. After some small talk, we realized that we both went to the same elementary and middle school, had some mutual friends, and lived only 10 minutes from each other! The next day, I looked in my yearbooks, and sure enough, there’s Omar Rodriguez!

What makes your relationship special? Tell us some things that you both value in your time together. What makes your relationship unique?

Our relationship is special because we deeply understand each other as best friends, as partners, and as soulmates. There’s no better feeling than being able to spend life with your person. We’re also a unique couple given our different backgrounds and cultures! Omar is from Mexico and raised in Georgia, whereas I was born and raised in Georgia. We both LOVE to dance, cook Mexican dishes that we’ve learned from Omar’s mom, explore new places while running, and spend our Saturdays watching college football!

How did you know your partner was the one? When did you first know this in your relationship?

Our experiences of being around each other and enjoying each other’s company helped us to find common interests. These interests grew more prominent when we noticed that we enjoyed doing activities together, such as running, cooking, and especially dancing. There’s something about our chemistry when we dance that makes it so unique for us – and those cumulations of moments are when we realized we have something special!

Give us all the details about the proposal. How and where did it happen? Was it a surprise? What was the planning process?

Omar planned the proposal in disguise of my Master’s graduation celebration. We had my graduation reception at the Allatoona Yacht Club and the only person that did not know what was REALLY going on – was me! After dinner, we went on a sunset cruise on the lake, where I enjoyed champagne and catching up with friends. My father started it off by giving a speech about how proud he and my mom were of my accomplishments of getting a Master’s degree. Then Omar kindly asked people to move towards one side of the boat and asked that I come to stand next to him. He began to give his congratulatory speech about how proud he was of me, and how he appreciates all that I do for him and that he didn’t see his life without me. That’s when he got down on one knee and gleefully asked: “Will you marry me?”! I look down, and the ring was beautifully shining in the ring box that had a mini-light. So, naturally, the first words out of my mouth were “It has a light?!” – Which made Omar and everyone laugh! I tearfully said “Yes, of course!” and gave him the biggest hug and kiss!! It’s definitely a moment that I will never forget!

We’re all about the bling… Tell us all about that ring!

Sneaky Omar as always, he took me to a ring shop to get an idea of what kind of ring I would like and to also figure out my ring size. He did this 8 months before he proposed – keeping me in suspense the entire time! Omar got a simple customized ring – Platinum Tiffany band with princess cut diamond in a 4-prong setting! The ring is exactly what I wanted – 1 diamond that stands alone. It is so elegant and beautiful!

Are you excited to start planning your wedding day? Do you have any ideas in mind yet?

YES! We’ve been dating for almost 9 years and engaged for nearly 3 years – so we’ve been ready! We’re excited to celebrate our backgrounds with our Mexican and Southern cuisine, to see Omar’s reaction to my beautiful dress, and to have a great time with our closest family and friends. Our ceremony and reception will be at the same location that Omar proposed and where I grew up going to the lake with my family – Allatoona Yacht Club. We have so many ideas that are beginning to take shape, and we CANNOT wait until the big day on October 5th!
