From the Photographer

Everyone loves a good engagement story. It’s the first question a person asks when they find out you’re getting married – “How did he propose?!” The back story, the anticipation, the romance, the excitement – it’s all part of a couple’s story and hearing them never gets old for me. I got the privilege of doing a Lady Bird Lake Engagement Shoot in Austin, Texas for Nina and Connor. We also took some photos on Rainey Street and I loved getting to hear their story – complete with Little Lucy’s donuts.

A Hometown Engagement in Lake Tahoe

They met at a work conference while they were living in two different cities. Connor was planning to move out to Chicago where Nina was living and they have been together ever since. Eventually, the time came when Connor was going to propose. The couple flew out to Nina’s hometown in California for a family event in October 2019. They took a day trip to Lake Tahoe with some close friends, one of whom was a photographer. He mentioned that he needed to quickly stop at the lake to take some photos. They all piled out of the car and walked to the dock where, much to Nina’s surprise, Connor asked her to marry him! They celebrated by having lunch with their friends in Tahoe. After lunch, they headed back to Nina’s parent’s house where Connor had planned a surprise party with fifty of their friends and family to celebrate their engagement!

I asked them what makes their relationship so special. Nina responded, “We spend almost 24/7 with each other… We love all of the time we have together and really love cooking, going for walks and hanging out in our home.” These two lovebirds are so excited to be planning their wedding and are looking forward to celebrating their love with their closest friends and family.

How did you two first meet?

We met at a work conference while we were living in two different cities (Austin & Chicago). Connor was actually planning a move up to Chicago, where I was already living and we’ve been together since then!

What are you most excited about when it comes to your wedding planning?

We are so excited to be planning our wedding for next April! We are looking forward to celebrating our love with our closest family and friends.
