We met online, and only texted for 3 months, due to living 2.5 hours away from each other. When we finally met, we were able to met we drove around and looked at Christmas lights and talked in person for the first time. We drove around for hours just enjoying each others company.
Our relationship is different because we have always made communication a priority between the two of us. We focus on hearing and understand what the other has to say, and then working on what we have talked about. We know that supporting each other and being able to communicate about what is important to us will allow us to grow stronger sand closer as a couple.
I knew that he was the one when within a month of us dating he supported me through the loss of my best friend. He was always there when I needed him, and never judged me for how I coped. He would hold me as I cried, but would give me space when I needed it. For him, there was never one distinct moment, he just knew.
On June 10th, we met with some of our friends ( our maid of honor, and a groomsmen, actually) and went to the terrace for some drinks. We also decided to walk up Bascom Hill and get some photos in front of the statue of Abe Lincoln. As we were getting ready a college tour group was coming up the hill. He dropped down on one knee and asked me to marry him. I started crying, and told him yes. At this point the tour group started cheering and clapping for us, and all we could do was laugh in the moment of excitement.
The ring is absolute perfect. It has beautiful scrolling in a rose gold setting. I did not care about the size of the diamond, all I wanted was for it to sparkle He did a wonderful job, and the diamond does sparkle He did a wonderful job, and I am so happy to wear it for the rest of my life.
