Newly engaged and exploring the downtown shops and wine bar with a sun-drenched backdrop and tons of laughter!
Mike and I first met online actually. We both come from car-loving/enthusiast families. Both of our fathers have been collecting for years and Mike saw that on one of my social media pages. He had sent me a message just small talking at first, eventually leading to us meeting in person. I had met him at the auto garage where he was working at the time and we went on our first date that night.
What makes our relationship special is the ability to be 100% transparent and ourselves. The way we make each other laugh until we cry and are able to make fun of ourselves, always having a good time. I value how we’re able to have a conversation about absolutely anything, even if it’s difficult. The way we agree on aspects that contribute to a healthy relationship is what makes us so close and so strong. Having a son from his previous relationship, one of the first things that attracted me to Mike was what an amazing father he was. The way he loves, cares and co-parents is something so incredible.
On our first date we had dinner and drinks and I remember sitting across from him when I said to myself “I feel like I’m speaking to my best friend right now. Someone I have known forever.” After hours of talking, I asked him to come back to my house for a bonfire. Ever since that night, we have been completely inseparable. I guess you could say it was “love at first sight”. We both were in the same place in our lives; looking for that one to start a life with. For years we both knew that “one” was out there, and that night we finally found each other.
Since we both knew it was the real deal very early into our relationship, we engaged about 4 months in! He asked my father for his permission and he couldn’t have been happier to say yes. We both knew the proposal was coming, but I didn’t know how. Mike had planned a short hike to a lookout in Lake George, NY. where he got down on one knee with the mountains surrounding us. It was absolutely perfect!
I have always loved ornate, old-fashioned, detailed jewelry so I always wanted a ring with enough detail but still blingy at the same time. My ring is a pear-shaped diamond with a halo surrounding it and an infinity style band. It definitely is my dream ring, and I have my dream man along with it!
We have always wanted a fall wedding, but we felt the year we got engaged was too soon. It has been 2 years since we’ve gotten engaged and now the wedding day is only in 3 months! The theme is a mixture of industrial- meets romantic and rustic. It is going to be held at Pat’s Barn in Rensselaer, NY early October (our favorite time of year)! We are both very excited and can’t wait to finally call one another husband and wife.
