I love engagement sessions, in fact they are usually my sessions I look forward to the most. Not only does your engagement session get you used to being in front of the camera, it also helps me see how you two interact as a couple. This meaning are you giggly, do you like to be close or further apart, and so on, it also helps me figure out what poses are best for you two! Therefore, by the time your wedding comes I know exactly what is going to work best and look best for you two. However, I also love them because they are always sessions filled with such excitement and joy, this realization that everything is actually happening and you are actually getting married. We get to chat about your wedding, and I get to capture that sparkle in your eye, and the smile on your fiancé’s face as he watches you light up. While this is a pretty accurate description of most of my couples, it is dead on for Rita and James.
Rita and James are seriously two of the sweetest, kindest and gentlest people I have ever met. They were so filled with excitement over their engagement session, it was truly adorable. Rita and I spent a few weeks planning their session, finding the perfect locations and Rita picked the cutest outfits. I was just as excited about their session as they were. But their excitement was seriously so sweet as they giggled with each other and pulled one another closer. These two are seriously so freaking cute together and I should also mention they are one attractive couple. Rita is seriously stunning! I can not wait to shoot her bridal portraits because I know she is going to look so amazing, and James compliments her in every way and will make such a handsome groom. These two are the prefect match in every way and I am patiently awaiting their wedding next summer.
I first saw James at the IPFW clubhouse. I only got to see a quick side view of him and I seriously think it was what some people call “love at first sight” haha. Later on, I ended up finding out we had mutual friends. One night we were all hanging out at the clubhouse and then headed to my apartment to hang out. I was a complete mess! I was so nervous, I barely spoke that night. After that night I followed James on Twitter and DM’d him. I kept telling my roommate how I probably made a fool of myself and how he most likely wouldn’t message me back. Later that evening James replied back and I was jumping all over the place yelling with excitement. Before I knew it we were planning our first date to the zoo.
One of the reasons why I love James is how he gets me out of my comfort zone. I never realized all the different types of delicious foods until we started going to all the authentic restaurants around Fort Wayne. Also our love for Talenti ice cream. It’s an absolute must when we go grocery shopping. James always eats his picks within a week and I like to make mine last. But before I know it, he’s eaten mine too. Which always means another ice cream run haha.
It’s hard to know when exactly it was. But when you realize that you both can be 100% comfortable with one another and not ahold back who you are, you just know. Also when you can finish each other’s sentence then there’s just no doubt.
I’m super close to my family. James always knew that I would want my family to be there when the time came to propose. I had gone one weekend to visit my family that lives an hour away to celebrate my nephew’s birthday party. Once I got to my moms house my niece wanted me to take her to the store. When we returned back, James had my moms backyard set up with balloons “marry me?” With our closest friends and my family there. What made the day even more memorable, some of the ballon letters had flown away so he had to write some of the letters on a piece of paper!
We had been taking about getting engaged probably a year before the proposal and had gone and looked at rings. I had picked out 3 of my favorite ones for James to pick from. And he picked the perfect one! I’m a very simple girl when it comes to jewelry. He picked a thin rose gold band with a round diamond.
Let’s be real! What girl hasn’t had her wedding planned since she was a little girl! And with now having Pinterest, my wedding was pretty much planned out.
