The one thing Amanda requested for engagement photos was snow. We’ve been crossing our fingers for weeks! Miracles happen because it snowed like crazy the day before, which left us with a fresh blanket of snow for Amanda and Brent’s engagements at Dundurn Castle! It was magical.
It’s difficult to dress stylishly in cold weather, but Amanda & Brent managed to dress it not just one, but TWO cute and cozy outfits perfect for the location. We started their session with their dog, Tucker, and ended it with Brent’s hockey jerseys. I can’t get over how amazing these two are as individuals. And together? They are so, so lovely! They are truly made for each other and are truly each other’s bffs. It is such a beautiful thing to witness.
We went to high school together but having 3 years difference in age, we never crossed paths. It was not until a couple years later we met by the bonfire at our friend’s house after attending the local maple syrup festival in town. We were both recently out of relationships and really did not consider our meeting to turn into anything serious, but now here we are 6 years later and forever to go!
You know how they say, opposites attract. Well, that definitely applies to us! While I am shy, Amanda levels out the awkwardness with her outgoing nature. Just like when she has a million new ideas come to fruition and is eager to start them all at once, I am here to slow her down and remind her she has her whole life to chase her dreams, but you cannot pour from an empty cup. The amount of balance in this relationship, in everyday life alone, is something incredibly special to us both.
For both of us, I think it was a trip to Las Vegas with my family. It would be the first time Brent would really be with them almost 24/7 for 4 days. My family is loud, and outgoing while Brent is on the shy side, so I did not know what to expect. Although, seeing him interact with my cousins, go on a boys trip with my dad, and seeing how comfortable he was with the people I love most, well that’s when I knew I wanted him to be a part of my family forever.
Oh ya, he surprised me! It was Oct 7th, 2017 our 1 year anniversary in our first home and we had plans for dinner to celebrate at the local steakhouse. When I get an emergency call from my sister, Emily, balling her eyes out on the other line. She asked that I come over to help calm her down from a possible anxiety attack. We were literally SECONDS out the door to dinner, but instead Brent drove me to Emily’s place to hang out. We would postpone dinner while he promised to take me afterwards. After an hour-long walk and cry session on the couch, she drove me home. I go to walk inside the house to get Brent, because I am starving now and want dinner, there is a note, and a rose petal on the door saying “Meet me on the back porch”. I open the door and there is a candle-lit rose petal pathway across our kitchen to our back porch. I walk down the path and there is Brent all dressed up in a suit, shaking like a leaf with a rose and a ring when he asked me to marry him. Then a flash comes from behind and Isee no one other than my SISTER who was in on it the whole time! After saying yes, out walks both of our families from behind our garden shed. It truly meant the world that he included our families to be a part of this special day!
I picked this one out because it stood out to me. It resembled some rings her sister showed me on her Pinterest page so I knew she would like the style. I chose this one specifically, because it is above the band on a pedestal and the diamonds just shine throughout the ring no matter how you look at it, it just sparkles. It reminds me of a ring a princess would have, and Amanda’s my princess, so that was the ring for her!
Yes! We are so excited it’s been just over a year since we got engaged and we could not wait for 2019 to be here! We are planning our date for August of this year, at Amanda’s parents’ home. The planning process is a lot more than expected, especially when using your own venue; you have to think of EVERYTHING! It will be a very relaxed and enjoyable day, our family and friends are so similar, we cannot wait to see them all interact and really become one big happy family by the end of the night!
