These two dog loving sweethearts met through an online site while in college! Travis was planning to propose to Brianna on their nightly walks with the dogs but he had no idea Brianna had planned for backyard Christmas photos! Once the photos were finally done (self timers and dogs aren’t always the easiest) they decided to just walk up the street and back. Brianna had carried her coffee and was wearing gloves so Travis decided to not do it then. Once getting home Brianna went to put her comfy sweatpants on and when she came out to living room Travis was down on one knee in the living room, with a pillow under his knee! (We all laughed at that part!). Now these two are planning a gorgeous wedding on their 7 acre back yard this August!
While we actually connected through online dating, we found out we attended the same college and had class on the same night. We decided to meet up before class for a drink and ended up skipping our classes and hanging out for 8 hours.
I think what makes our relationship unique is how different we are. We are polar opposites is almost all things, but somehow we just work. We definitely have our separate hobbies, but we always meet in the middle and take time to do things we both enjoy together.
Honestly, I always knew things were different with him, Things were easy in a way they never had been before. We have always wanted the same things out of life and ever since the beginning, I could see the long term. There was never one defining moment, but I guess I knew all along.
While there was apparently a plan for the proposal, I ruined it by forcing him to take family photos for our Christmas card. We were supposed to go on a walk in the local park with the dogs, but by the time we got done with our photo shoot it was dark. We walked down the road instead and I took my coffee with me and was wearing gloves. I kind of ruined options there too. We got home and he proposed in our living room. I wasn’t expecting it at all and it was a total surprise. I had just said a few days before how annoyed I got when people asked me when we were getting married and I didn’t have an answer. I’m sure he laughed to himself about that.
I am not that girl who has dreamed about being engaged and married. I’ve always pictured it as part of my life plan, but never specifics. I have always told him not to guess when it comes to a ring so he consulted his sister. She consulted my Pinterest board. I had always pinned things that looked pretty without any thoughts on what style I would actually want. His sister said she wasn’t sure she was helping him because I had so many different styles pinned. It turns out, she helped him pick the perfect one. It is exactly what I would have chosen for myself. It is a gorgeous four prong round cut, with a micro-pave platinum band. He did very well and I’m obsessed!
Like I said about the ring, I’ve never been that girl who dreamed about her wedding day. I am always drawn to rustic weddings so I wanted a more rustic venue. When the timing of our engagement came around, we decided on getting married in our backyard (7 acres) rather than waiting to book a venue when they were available. I have a pretty clear vision of what I want to do with the space, but people aren’t kidding when they say it’s stressful. I am truly excited to see my vision come to life on our big day, because I’m sure it will be beautiful!
