A Romantic Wedding at Sacred Oaks at Camp Lucy

There are so many parts of the wedding day that I love, but I have to say that one of my favorites has quickly become the first look between the couple. First looks are a way for the couple to spend a quiet moment together before all of the wedding festivities begin. When a groom beholds his bride, it can be a lot to take in – the emotion and the excitement can be overwhelming. A first look can provide a beautiful space for the couple to share in that emotion together without hundreds of eyes staring at them. Lauren and Kyle’s wedding at Sacred Oaks at Camp Lucy was the perfect location for their special moment together. The expression on Kyle’s face when he saw his bride is one that I will never forget!

A Special Day, Surrounded by Close Friends and family

Lauren and Kyle met back in 2017 through a close mutual friend. Their social circle centers around rugby, which they both play and is a big part of who they are as a couple. This was a destination wedding for Lauren and Kyle. Families had flown in from all over for the couple’s wedding at Sacred Oaks at Camp Lucy – New York, California, Philadelphia, and a couple of other states. You could tell that family was important to them. The smiles and tears that were shared throughout the course of the day just showed how much everyone cared for each other and the couple. The evening ended with the couple being escorted out into the night with huge smiles and a sparkler exit. I had such a blast photographing this couple for their special day and I wish them well in their journey ahead together!

Tell us about your wedding! What was the inspiration behind your day? Did you have a specific theme, style or color palette?

We had a beautiful outdoor wedding in Texas hill country. We wanted our wedding to feel like a colorful, joyful backyard reunion with family and friends, with food and music as the central highlight. Fresh fruits, bright flowers and greenery filled the great hall and and giant trees and string lights canopied the yard outside as guests played lawn games at cocktail hour before transitioning inside for dinner and dancing.

What was the most anticipated or special moment of your wedding day?

We have two favorite moments:

Walking into the ceremony space was magical – silence and stillness carried only the gentle music of Steel Betty and the smiling faces of hundreds of our closest family and friends. Our photo walk after the ceremony with Nikk Nguyen: we laughed so hard and had so much fun dancing and exploring, and it resulted in our favorite photos of the day. It was a great way to transition from the ceremony to the reception!
