Have you always wanted to know more about renting furniture, chargers and chairs for your upcoming event? There are so many great options… what’s the difference between a ghost chair, a french country chair and a King Louis chair? What kinds of questions do you ask them? Should you do anything prior to meeting with them? Well, recently, we had the chance to sit down with Alexis from Orlando Wedding and Party Rentals in Orlando, Florida to help us with some insightful tips of what to do before meeting with a rental company as well as a few questions you should ask when meeting with one. It’s not everyday you’re having to book rentals for an event – and they get that!

What to do beforehand: set your date

Think of your date as the foundation of your wedding planning. Rental companies always keep availability in mind, thus knowing your date will allow them to check that those items are feasible for the date you’re saying I Do!

What to do beforehand: set your venue

Securing your venue lets you know what items you truly need; what does the venue offer already? After seeing my venue in person, I really want pipe & drape! Etc.

We also wanted to mention that having your venue squared away gives your rental company a sense of your guest count, allowing them to gather any inventory information that could affect the items that piqued your interest.

What to do beforehand: create your rentals wishlist/budget

Whether it be a Pinterest board, or clippings from your favorite magazine, gather some inspiration so that you and your rental company can discuss items that will best fit your vision! It’s extremely helpful to have your wedding colors handy, the “theme” you have your heart set on, and any personal/family traditions you’ll be incorporating.

What to ask in the meeting: what services do you offer?

While most rental companies offer delivery services, others have detailed rental policies that you should be aware of. For instance: cleaning off the flatware before returning, untying chair cushions, and more.

On the other hand, not all delivery services are equal. Be sure to double check what type of “delivery” they’re offering. Will they drop off the items and set them for you, or will they just drop off the items?

What to ask in the meeting: what does your pricing entail?

Keep in mind that your rental company, respectfully, might not divulge pricing in the meeting. However, a good question to ask is what gets factored into those dollar signs. This way you have confidence in what you’re paying, knowing that “A, B, and C” services are included and are being taken care of!

What to ask in the meeting: what odds + ends do couples tend to forget when selecting their rentals?

Planning an event can be stressful, and at times some things slip through the cracks. A common, but silly, error that couples tend to make is: forgetting to include themselves in their rental count! Others tend to overlook both inclement + sunny weather; rain happens, so consider reserving a tent. Intense heat may play an important factor in your summer nuptials, consider adding on a few fans/cooling units to provide some relief for you and your guests.

Your rental company can provide helpful insights & valuable suggestions, so that no detail gets overlooked!
