Owen and Abby envisioned for the past two years an outside wedding with light airy colors. They fell in love with The Moser Barn because of the open fields, beautiful barns, and the reception area. Abby loved the idea of things being “natural”. She chose the dusty pink bridesmaids dresses for the soft touch and navy groomsmen attire for a more classy feel. They wanted things to look somewhat rustic but also classic. It was just that! Rustic, yet classic, dreamy, light and airy. Perfect.
Abby’s sister Murphy is a member of the band Berryfield which is based out of Carthage, NC and they gave a beautiful performance during the ceremony! And the musical talent runs in the family! Abby’s father sang “Fly Me To The Moon” to her for their first dance! It was seriously the sweetest thing. Their love story all began when they were 14 years old and met for the first time at church bible school. Owen and Abby’s wedding day marked 7.5 years of dating! The proposal story is even sweeter…
Abby lived in Boone for 4 years and Owen knows how much she loves being in the mountains. After Abby had moved away from Boone after her senior year, Owen mentioned that they should go back to in a couple of weeks to spend the whole day there! Two weeks later, they packed the car up and headed to Boone for a day trip. Owen knows that Abby loves to Kayak so that’s what they did first at Price Lake on the Parkway.
After Kayaking, Owen mentioned that he wanted to take her somewhere nice for dinner, but Owen wanted to “swing by” Grandfather mountain on the way to dinner. Once on Grandfather Mountain, Owen led Abby across the swinging bridge and asked a couple to take their picture. As soon as they posed together to take a picture, he kneeled down on one knee and proposed! The sweet couple he asked to take the picture got the whole thing photographed! Afterwards, they went and had dinner and shared a giant cinnamon roll with homemade ice cream at Macado’s on King Street.
