After reminiscing through Alyssa and Alex’s engagement photos from last year, we had some sort of excited butterflies throwing a party in our stomachs, too. All of the final details were put into place; the dreamy floral arrangements, Alyssa’s stunning veil, the warm June breeze, and even Alex’s socks that were donning his bride’s glowing smile. The ceremony was full of laughter and smiles. It totally left us swooning. Their celebration took us to the always beautiful Beaumont Inn in Dallas where the newlyweds were surrounded by all of the love from their family and friends. We think it’s safe to say that they definitely danced the night away.

Tell us about your wedding! What was the inspiration behind your day? Did you have a specific theme, style or color palette?

Our wedding was inspired by the light, airy feeling of summertime. Our colors and palette were blush, rose gold and light florals. We celebrated our ceremony in a traditional Catholic Church, then headed to the beautiful, historic Beaumont Inn in Dallas, Pennsylvania for a breezy, open-air reception. We featured our late grandparents’ wedding photos, as well as our parents’ wedding photos, on an outdoor fireplace to pay homage to the love that made us the couple we are.

Let’s talk wedding decor. How did you decorate your space for the ceremony and the reception?

Our reception decor included outdoor lanterns on a beautifully lit fireplace, surrounded with custom rose gold pillows on relaxing outdoor furniture. Inside our wedding pavilion, we used satin champagne tablecloths with rose gold and clear centerpieces, fresh flowers and clear Chiavari chairs. Rose gold sequin tablecloths and greenery swags added flair.

What were the florals like in your wedding? Did you use flowers in any of your design elements like the bridal bouquets, centerpieces or ceremony backdrop? Did they play an important part in the overall style of your wedding?

The florals were peonies and roses. I wanted them to complement the bridesmaids’ dresses, which were also light floral. We used flowers for the bridal bouquets, boutonnières, church flowers, reception centerpieces and more. Florals were crucial to making our wedding feel fresh and light, and June is peony season, which worked out perfectly as they are my favorite flower.

Did you personalize the day in any way (food trucks, guest entertainment etc.)? What were some of your favorite parts of your wedding?

Some of the best parts of our wedding included dancing with friends and family (including our traditional Dollar Dance in which guests pay to dance with the bride and groom). One extra special part of our day was when our entire group of guests sang Billy Joel together – unplanned – during our dinner hour!

Let’s talk fashion. How did you both choose your wedding day look? Describe the looks in detail.

We wanted navy suits as opposed to tuxedos to add a more relaxed element to our day. My dress was light and flowy with a deep v in the front and back, and the bridesmaids’ light chiffon dresses were equally as airy.

How did you meet? Tell us about the proposal.

We are high school sweethearts! My husband and I met in the seventh grade, became close friends as high school freshmen, and began dating in junior year. After nearly seven years together, my now husband proposed on a tropical winter getaway we took to Punta Cana in the Dominican Republic.

What was the most anticipated or special moment of your wedding day?

The most special moment of our wedding day was reading our vows to one another. We had written special, handwritten promises that we read aloud during our ceremony, and they perfectly represented what we want for each other and our relationship for the rest of our lives.

Do you have any wedding planning or marriage advice that you’d like to share with other couples planning their day?

Have fun, and don’t stress! Your big day will come so fast, and you will enjoy every moment if you take it all in and don’t sweat the small stuff.
