The inspiration was the bride’s love for Newport and New England! The colors were white, blue, and blush pink. The bride wanted blue hydrangeas to be a staple in the arrangements because they remind her of New England.

Tell us about your wedding! What was the inspiration behind your day? Did you have a specific theme, style or color palette?

The inspiration was the bride’s love for Newport and New England! Her parents were married in Newport, RI, and she always hoped to get married there. The theme was “New England nautical.” The color palette was navy, blush pink, and grey. We included wedding pictures of all of our deceased grandparents.

Let’s talk wedding decor. How did you decorate your space for the ceremony and the reception?

We kept it simple! For the ceremony, we had flowers and rose petals from our amazing florist. We wanted rose petals because the groom’s proposal had involved rose petals spelling out the message “Will you marry me?” My aunts made the bows on the chairs, which was very special to me. For the reception, we had family photos, more flowers from our wonderful florist, and a wedding sign. Not a lot of DIY because we are both too busy!

What were the florals like in your wedding? Did you use flowers in any of your design elements like the bridal bouquets, centerpieces or ceremony backdrop? Did they play an important part in the overall style of your wedding?

The colors were white, blue, and blush pink. The bride wanted blue hydrangeas to be a staple in the arrangements because they remind her of New England.

Did you personalize the day in any way (food trucks, guest entertainment etc.)? What were some of your favorite parts of your wedding?

The ceremony was very personal, due to the bride’s close friend officiating the wedding. For the reception, most of the music was handpicked by us and we had picked out songs to dedicate to special guests ahead of time. One of our favorite parts was the fireworks because they were such a surprise! We also just loved dancing the night away. The bride also enjoyed getting ready with her best friends, sister and mother.

Let’s talk fashion. How did you both choose your wedding day look? Describe the looks in detail.

The bride became obsessed with BHLDN after a great experience picking out her wedding dress there. The dress and earrings were both from BHLDN. She wanted to be comfortable with a simple, but stunning dress. She loved the lace bodice and flowing skirt. The groom liked the navy tux with black lapels.

How did you meet? Tell us about the proposal.

We met online, and fell for each other quickly! He proposed in Islamorada in the Keys of Florida, after the bride graduated from her PhD program. Her parents were decoys and tricked her into heading back to the room to grab them something. Little known to the bride, he had decorated the room with rose petals, flowers, candles, and a photo album of their favorite memories.

What was the most anticipated or special moment of your wedding day?

Seeing each other for the first time in our fancy looks 🙂

Do you have any wedding planning or marriage advice that you’d like to share with other couples planning their day?

Take breaks from planning! It can take up so much thought and time, and it’s nice to have a night off as a couple to really enjoy each other in the present moment.
