From the Photographer

Breana and Leandra are the type of couples that you always hope you’ll book. So in love and connected to each other, a total joy. Breana loves art and Breana loves gardening, so we took them to the Palace Of Fine Arts, and Fort Marshall. They met through friends, and before long they got matching tattoos. Leandra is a talented tattoo artists in their area, so that was pretty special.

They wanted a very colorful editing process to showcase their love of all things art and nature. They were on a very tight budget and wanted as much bang for their buck as possible, so the locations , which were both free, added a lot of color. We could NOT believe it when we found the All you Need Is Love graffiti!! They fell in love with it, and it’s one of my favorite shots of the day. We planned their all inclusive elopement, booked our vendors and planned their itinerary for an early July morning. Everything was perfect. They had a vegan lunch in San Francisco and then headed back to central California to start their lives as Mrs and Mrs!

Tell us about your wedding! What was the inspiration behind your day? Did you have a specific theme, style or color palette?

Our wedding day was wonderful! We always knew we wanted something small and simple, and just the two of us. I loved having an intimate ceremony, it made everything that much more meaningful for us. We didn’t really have a theme, but stuck to light neutral colors. My dress was a cream color and my wife’s was a blush color, and I had a bouquet that matched us both. We had originally planned to have the ceremony at San Francisco City Hall, but because of Covid we had to move to an outdoor location. We landed on the Palace of Fine Arts, and it was truly a blessing in disguise because it was such a beautiful location and our photographer Rachel knew everything about it, which made for amazing photos!

Let’s talk wedding decor. How did you decorate your space for the ceremony and the reception?

No decor necessary! Just a beautiful outdoor location that did all the work for us.

What were the florals like in your wedding? Did you use flowers in any of your design elements like the bridal bouquets, centerpieces or ceremony backdrop? Did they play an important part in the overall style of your wedding?

I had a bouquet that was a cream and blush color. I didn’t put too much importance on it, just picked something that I liked and that I though would look nice and be the centerpiece in our photos.

Did you personalize the day in any way (food trucks, guest entertainment etc.)? What were some of your favorite parts of your wedding?

Some of my favorite parts of my wedding were being able to have a special intimate ceremony with the love of my life, and being able to take photographs in such beautiful outdoor locations with a photographer who knew everything about the city.

Let’s talk fashion. How did you both choose your wedding day look? Describe the looks in detail.

We both wanted simple makeup looks, and beautiful curled hair. Our makeup artist Adelina definitely delivered! As far as the dresses, I knew I wanted something simple and sort of vintage looking and found the most amazing dress. My wife wanted something that flowed and that wasn’t white so we contrasted a bit more, and she looked so beautiful!

How did you meet? Tell us about the proposal.

We met in high school and have been inseparable since. We didn’t really have a traditional proposal, but we always knew we wanted to be married to each other. Eventually we picked out engagement rings together and the rest is history.

What was the most anticipated or special moment of your wedding day?

The most special moment was saying our vows and putting our wedding rings on each other. It was so sweet and special, just the two of us in front of each other agreeing to love each other forever. It really solidified our relationship and made me so excited to start a married life with my love.

Do you have any wedding planning or marriage advice that you’d like to share with other couples planning their day?

Everyone has a different goal when it comes to their wedding, some like a big extravagant celebration and others like small and intimate. We were the latter, and my advice for others looking to do a small ceremony is keep it simple, trust your gut, hire Rachel Levine as your photographer, and have fun with each other. The only marriage advice I have so far is that communication is key!
