It takes no time being around Brittany and Eli to know that these guys are meant to be, entirely devoted to and respectful of each other and destined to share a beautiful love affair for the rest of their lives. In choosing their wedding venue, they remembered a getaway to the Florida Keys during their courtship that introduced them to the character and cats of Ernest Hemingway’s Mansion and Museum in Key West. The old venue was full of romance and was the perfect place for the exchange of their vows. We hope you enjoy these visual recollections of their wonderful day.

Tell us about your wedding! What was the inspiration behind your day? Did you have a specific theme, style or color palette?

The inspiration behind our wedding was the venue itself. The Hemingway House is a beautiful, elegant, historical place, and is home to the 6 toed cats. We wanted our theme to be glam and elegant. Our colors were navy, burgundy, and gold which contrasted beautifully with the venue. We had a Jewish Ceremony, did the signing of the Ketubah before the ceremony, and had the traditional Hora chair dance at our reception.

Let’s talk wedding decor. How did you decorate your space for the ceremony and the reception?

Our ceremony and reception were decorated with floral arrangements in burgundy, pale pink, and ivory flowers with touches of greenery. The centerpieces were floral arrangements and gold candle holder arrangements. We had the dance floor in the middle of the reception, and had tables on surrounding both sides, with our table in the center behind the dance floor. The reception area had string lights hung above along with a chandelier in the middle of the dance floor.

What were the florals like in your wedding? Did you use flowers in any of your design elements like the bridal bouquets, centerpieces or ceremony backdrop? Did they play an important part in the overall style of your wedding?

Our flowers were very elegant and varied in colors of burgundy, pale pink, and ivory. The bridal bouquets, the ceremony Huppah, and centerpieces all had floral design elements.

Did you personalize the day in any way (food trucks, guest entertainment etc.)? What were some of your favorite parts of your wedding?

We had a photo booth during which was a lot fun, and even better seeing all of the pictures of our guests enjoying it. Our wedding was everything we dreamed of and more, we couldn’t be happier with how everything went.

Let’s talk fashion. How did you both choose your wedding day look? Describe the looks in detail.

We chose our wedding day look based on our personalities and the venue. I had a fitted ivory colored dress with an embroidered lace overlay, strapless with a sweetheart neck line. I wore a cathedral length veil that had small detail around the edges of it. My shoes were champagne colored and had light blue bottoms for my “something blue”. He wore a custom navy suit and navy vest with an ivory shirt and navy tie.

How did you meet? Tell us about the proposal.

We met on a dating app, and had our first date on 3/31/2016. From the first moment we saw each other we had instant chemistry. A couple days later we had our second date, and went to see the Superman v. Batman movie. Before the movie started he looked over at me, and told me he had deleted all of the dating apps he was on. Of course, I did the same since I was completely smitten over him. On April 4th we went to the Braves’ opening day. Walking back to Eli’s loft from Turner Field he pulled me over to him, and made it official by asking me to be his girlfriend. A little over a year and half later, Eli wanted to make us more official, and on Thanksgiving 2017 he did just that. We were in Miami for Thanksgiving visiting his family, and his mom asked him to go and pick up her fish order from the fish market. Little did I know we were not going to pick up fish, and that his family and mine were all in on his surprise. When we arrived at Matheson Hammock Park it appeared abandoned. Eli parked the car in front of gorgeous view of the bay, and got out of the car to “call his mom because there was no fish market”. During this time I still had no idea what was going on. Eli came over to my side of the car and told me that he went to the wrong place, but asked if I wanted to go take a selfie in front of the view of the bay. He took me over towards the bay then got down on one knee and asked me to be his wife, and of course I said, “Yes!”

What was the most anticipated or special moment of your wedding day?

The most anticipated and special moment of my wedding day was our first look. I was not sure at first that I wanted to do a first look because I wanted to be traditional and not have him see me until I walked down the aisle. However, we knew that if we didn’t do a first look then we would not have had as great of photos because of the lighting. I am so glad we did the first look because once he had me in his arms all of my nerves went away and he calmed me. It was perfect!

Do you have any wedding planning or marriage advice that you’d like to share with other couples planning their day?

My wedding planning advice is to be organized and have all of your plans finalized before the rehearsal, and have a wedding planner help you to do that. Do not be afraid of asking your bridal party to do things for you and help you on your wedding day. If I hadn’t been as organized as I was, had the help of a planner, and an amazing man of honor I would have been so stressed on my wedding day and not have been able to enjoy it. Any issue that happened on the wedding day was handled by my wedding and my man of honor which allowed me to focus on what was important, my husband 🙂
