Tell us about your wedding! What was the inspiration behind your day? Did you have a specific theme, style or color palette?

We wanted a beach theme with a color pallet to match the softness (pale blue & pink & white). This laid back ocean vibe, while also black-tie optional, was important to us to reflect who we are and where we spend a lot of time. We incorporated a hand fasting ceremony & rope into our ceremony in lieu of other, more traditional, unity ceremonies.

Let’s talk wedding decor. How did you decorate your space for the ceremony and the reception?

The ceremony chairs were adorned with floral aisle markers in mason jars and our arch was decorated with abundant florals to match the bouquets and centerpieces. Escort cards were hung from white shutters (which we painted up until the night before!), on which matching flowers were spread throughout. We also had guests sign post cards in lieu of a guest book, that were displayed on an antique display rack which was white wash painted by us. Reception space was decorated with florals from Vault and Vine.

What were the florals like in your wedding? Did you use flowers in any of your design elements like the bridal bouquets, centerpieces or ceremony backdrop? Did they play an important part in the overall style of your wedding?

The florals were very important during our wedding. We had some long rectangular tables that were decorated with greenery, candles and flowers. Round tables were decorated with both high and low centerpieces with lush greenery and flowers to match the long tables. We wanted to emphasize the greenery throughout the reception, paired with soft pastels (pink & blue) and whites for a simple but elegant look. To accompany this, vines were hanging from the chandeliers of our reception area. Our ceremony arch was also decorated with abundant greenery and flowers. Greenery and small flowers were also incorporated into my hair style.

Did you personalize the day in any way (food trucks, guest entertainment etc.)? What were some of your favorite parts of your wedding?

We threw an all-weekend party. The weekend started out with welcome s’mores and drinks by the fire pits (on the beach) on Friday evening. Our reception was followed by an after party by the fire pits and brunch the following morning. We could not choose just one part of the weekend that was our favorite we had perfect weather all weekend, allowing for our dreamed about beach ceremony, and the most amazing dance floor during our reception. Being on the beach was a dream of ours and the ability to be outside, on the beach, for our entire wedding weekend was pure perfection.

Let’s talk fashion. How did you both choose your wedding day look? Describe the looks in detail.

Kacy had a custom made suite by Bindle & Keep, dark blue with paisley lining. She wore Louboutin brown leather loafers. I (Brittany) was looking for a lace/boho-chic dress, which I found at Kleinfeld Bridal (Rivini by Rita Vinieris, Breathtaking) accompanied by my mom, sister and bridesmaids. I completed the look with an old school Hollywood wave and bright red lipstick to match.

How did you meet? Tell us about the proposal.

Kacy had heard about me through a friend and subsequently found me on an online dating website-she sent me a long, witty message, which I could not refuse. Our first date was going to the top of the Freedom Tower, overlooking the city. This was followed by drinks at a local spot, where we stayed and talked for so long we both forgot to eat all day! After our date, Kacy called her friend to say “I’m going to marry her.” Our proposal came two years later, Kacy planned events for the entire weekend leading up to the proposal, including dinner at The Rainbow Room, having my favorite wine shipped in and a Rolls Royce picking us up to take us to our favorite walking spot along the pier, where she proposed. The Rolls Royce then drove us to dinner overlooking Central Park.

What was the most anticipated or special moment of your wedding day?

The beach ceremony. We had been hoping and praying for the past year that we would be able to have our ceremony on the beach. We had picture perfect weather and we both walked down the aisle barefoot!

Do you have any wedding planning or marriage advice that you’d like to share with other couples planning their day?

It is so important to do what YOU want to do for your wedding, not try to accommodate what everyone else wants and all the differing opinions. This led to A LOT of arguments with family; however, every disagreement was worth it because our wedding was exactly how WE pictured it and was a true reflection of us.
