John and Catalina met in College. They are both Petroleum engineers, who live and work in the Houston, Texas area. They choose the Caribbean city of Cartagena, Colombia, South America, for their destination wedding location. 60 guest traveled from all around the world for this wedding. Since the guest experience was really important to them, they decided that the location was an integral part of creating a breathtaking experience for their guest. Their choice, Club de Pesca Restaurant, an iconic marina club restaurant nestled on a pier, with architectural elements that evoke the historic old city, famous for its gastronomy and breathtaking views of the bay and Cartagena’s cityscape. Catalina and John are true foodies, so food played an important part in choosing their venue.

They said their vows right on the walled fortress that the restaurant offers, followed by dinner and dance right on the pier. The mother of the bride walked the bride down the aisle and the bride’s sister was her bridesmaid/maid of honor. For the Groom as well, he was accompanied by his childhood friend as his best man.

Their decor can be described as warm and elegant. Colors: off-white with touches of burgundy and gold. Table lines were a delicate of delicate netting. A Protea flower was added to each table setting, giving it an elegant tropical touch. Since may is a rainy season in Cartagena, a high tent was set up. The inside of the tent was covered with black fabric, and tiny lights where added. The effect was a starry night.
