Daniela and Chris were married inside the beautiful barn at Perona Farms, NJ. When Daniela asked us to photograph her wedding, I had to jump at the chance. We were very close childhood friends (we lived right across the street from one another after she moved from Queens to the suburbs of NJ). Daniela and I played with our Barbie’s together, watched Arthur & Pokemon and always had Subway sandwiches for lunch with a side of Baked Lays. We were inseparable as kids. I knew photographing her day would be incredibly special because I could literally be there for her the entire day.

This bride had a very specific vision of a rustic, barn wedding but had a classic twist of Hollywood Glam. This vibe was so unique, and so very Daniela. There were so many personal touches around Perona Farms including vintage furniture and decorations. Furthermore, this couple loves to travel together & have an adorable mini dachshund Charlie, and we loved how they incorporated their personal interests into the day. There were so many great little details and it was a pleasure to document it all. Cheers to the newlyweds Daniela & Chris Skibiniski!

Tell us about your wedding! What was the inspiration behind your day? Did you have a specific theme, style or color palette?

When classic Hollywood Glam meets vintage Farmhouse Chic. Daniela and Chris were married in the beautiful barn at Perona Farms, located in Sparta NJ. The wedding style featured many personal touches, including vintage furniture and decorations to pay homage to the bride’s maternal grandparents, who were married on that exact day 51 years prior. Both the bride and groom are of Roman Catholic faith.

Let’s talk wedding decor. How did you decorate your space for the ceremony and the reception?

Decorations included many vintage props from the 1950’s. Guests were transported to an old era, while still maintaining a vision of farmhouse glam. Tall candlesticks generously topped each table, setting a soft and romantic mood. The couple’s wedding invitation and ceremony programs, which was a hand fan, were both DIY projects created by Daniela.

What were the florals like in your wedding? Did you use flowers in any of your design elements like the bridal bouquets, centerpieces or ceremony backdrop? Did they play an important part in the overall style of your wedding?

Florals included lots of natural greens and eucalyptus. During the ceremony the bride and groom stood before a birch arbor, donned with flowy ivory fabric in a relaxed fashion. Florals and greens decorated the top of the arbor, designed for an organic – yet not super overdone – look. Daniela held a beautiful, loose cascading bouquet, consisting of pale blues and whites, with sage greens and eucalyptus mixed in throughout for a lush look and feel. A slate blue ribbon trailed below the bouquet. At the reception, tall and medium centerpieces, featuring blue and white flowers, stood over mismatching lace tablecloths, and paired with loose fallen leaves. The sweetheart table was decorated with lush greens and lace, topped with mismatched bud vases. It stood before a macramé wall draping. Greens and flowers could also be found throughout the barn, creating a lush and natural setting.

Did you personalize the day in any way (food trucks, guest entertainment etc.)? What were some of your favorite parts of your wedding?

One special touch was in honor of the couple’s miniature dachshund, Charlie. Doggy treats “fur” his friends who couldn’t make it to the “pawty” were displayed as party favors for guests’ K-9 companions. The day was filled with rain, shine, laughter, and plenty of cake!

Let’s talk fashion. How did you both choose your wedding day look? Describe the looks in detail.

Daniela’s Kitty Chen wedding gown was a lace and sequin masterpiece. Toffee colored fabric sat underneath an ivory overlay, beaded with crystals and small pearls. Crystals and pearls were also added to the straps and backing, helping to glam up the gown. A long pear-shaped train was accompanied by a matching pear-shaped cathedral veil. Daniela embodied a Hollywood bride with vintage flair. Bridesmaids wore dusty blue, mismatching lace gowns, while the groom and groomsmen sported navy blue tuxedos by designer, Ike Behar.

How did you meet? Tell us about the proposal.

How we met- It was playoff season and a group of mutual friends met at a bar to watch the New York Rangers beat the Washington Capitals. A flirty conversation erupted over a plate of shared nachos, and by the end of the night Chris asked Daniela for “a number.” Daniela, wittily responded by writing down the single digit “5” on a napkin. However, Daniela had met her match and Chris was equally set in his ways. Over 6 additional dates Chris acquired all 7 digits, as well as Daniela’s heart. Proposal- As avid travelers, it is not uncommon for the pair to take weekend getaways to neighboring cities. While exploring the city of Philadelphia, Chris and Daniela made a stop to visit the Magic Gardens, which is a beautiful outdoor garden created out of mosaic tiles. It had been raining earlier in the day, so the iconic staircase was temporarily closed off. But as fate works in mysterious ways, the sun appeared and the staircase was opened. While posing for a photo on the staircase, Chris got down on one knee and forgot all that he had planned to say. He was only able to mutter, “hey Daniela, will you marry me?” Daniela had only been waiting five years for him to ask, so her answer was a very easy, “yes.”

What was the most anticipated or special moment of your wedding day?

Saying “I Do!” Regardless of what went wrong and what went right, saying “I do” to the one who keeps your heart, is effortless.

Do you have any wedding planning or marriage advice that you’d like to share with other couples planning their day?

Do not stress the things you cannot change. The original plans for the ceremony was for it to be held outside the barn on the grass. However, as Mother Nature had it, rain caused for a location change. Although this was not what everyone had hoped for, an indoor ceremony was ultimately more intimate and romantic.
