From the Photographer

Jackie & Matt met in 2012 at a work Christmas Party (oh and Christmas is so close!). She loves his big heart and loyalty to his friends and family… she also loves how intelligent Matt is. Matt loves her compassion towards others and how she prioritizes family oh and she can cook! Jackie is also very resourceful when it comes to crafts (how fun is that?!) They enjoy spending time with family, eating ice cream (yum!), traveling and hiking. Jackie & Matt’s wedding truly was very laid back yet super fun! We loved their contemporary decor with a wood circle arch, glass welcome sign and the ever so classic blush tones in the flowers.

One of the sweetest moments during the Ceremony was their Sand Ceremony… they brought sand from their home towns Michigan & South Carolina and poured them together in a very meaningful moment after saying their vows to each other? They danced the night away and enjoyed many sweet moments with family & friends. As for us… we just adored being a part of Jackie & Matt’s love story.

Tell us about your wedding! What was the inspiration behind your day? Did you have a specific theme, style or color palette?

My husband and I love the water so we chose the Westin Tampa. Bay to get married. There are beautiful water views from every room! We chose antique rose and navy as the primary colors to compliment the beach and water scenery.

Let’s talk wedding decor. How did you decorate your space for the ceremony and the reception?

Petals Presents and Parties, provided the flowers & wood arch which made the ceremony and reception beautiful! Most of the other decor was DIY. I made the welcome sign, table numbers and programs, with help from my mom. My dad made the welcome Jenga!

What were the florals like in your wedding? Did you use flowers in any of your design elements like the bridal bouquets, centerpieces or ceremony backdrop? Did they play an important part in the overall style of your wedding?

Yes! The soft romantic colors used in the floral decor made the ceremony and reception beautiful. We had a large floral arrangement on the wooden arch, flowers on the chairs, greenery on the welcome sign and arrangements for the tables. The bridesmaids all have white and soft bunk bouquets that matched the bridal bouquet and went perfect with their antique rose dresses!

Did you personalize the day in any way (food trucks, guest entertainment etc.)? What were some of your favorite parts of your wedding?

My husband and I are not big cake fans so we had an ice cream bar instead of the traditional wedding cake. We also decided to have a dr Seuss reading as part of the ceremony to add some laughter! We also served our favorite cocktails as “his” and “her” signature cocktails, a Paloma and mint julep!

Let’s talk fashion. How did you both choose your wedding day look? Describe the looks in detail.

Everything was selected to match my dress, which had to sparkle and have a lot of detail. The back was my favorite! My husband knew he wanted dark gray suits so once he picked out his suit we chose everything to match. Since he wasn’t going to wear a pink tie to match the bridesmaids we went with navy ties, which complimented the bridesmaids dresses!

How did you meet? Tell us about the proposal.

We met through work. He had just started on a team I previously worked on and they were having a Christmas party at a local restaurant/bar, which is where we were introduced. We had so much fun hanging out, doing Irish car bombs all night.

What was the most anticipated or special moment of your wedding day?

Having all of our friend and family together to celebrate with us!

Do you have any wedding planning or marriage advice that you’d like to share with other couples planning their day?

Don’t sweat the little things. The day goes by quick and you don’t want to spend it stressed or upset about things that in the end won’t matter. All that matters is you are marrying the love of your life so enjoy it!
