Our story started years ago in high school. AJ and I had crushes on each other, but never dated. I kept my eye on him throughout the next few years though 😉

Fast forward to June 2009. I was living in Philly, PA and AJ was living in Reading, PA. A couple friends and I were going out to a bar (Plough & the Stars) in Old City, Philly, and the guy I was casually dating at the time was joining us. My friend (and roommate and now bridesmaid) Jenna had told me that our mutual friend from high school, Evbo, was going to meet us at the bar. Little did I know, he was bringing AJ with him. When I saw AJ walk through the doors with Evbo, my mouth dropped. Long story short, I spent the rest of the night dancing and talking with AJ, and completely forgot about the other guy. And I’ve been with him ever since!

Fast forward to 2016. AJ and I were living in Tampa, FL after moving here in 2014 for my nurse anesthesia graduate program. AJ and I were invited to a “graduation celebration dinner,” or so I thought. My classmate and friend Andrew had texted me asking if AJ and I wanted to go to dinner with a bunch of our classmates at the speakeasy Ciro’s in Tampa to celebrate our upcoming graduation the following weekend. I was so excited because I had wanted to go to Ciro’s for 2 years, and I was finally getting to go! Not to mention I was so excited to celebrate with my friends/classmates the end of anesthesia school! On May 1, we met my friends at the speakeasy in a hidden room behind a bookcase–it was amazing! At the time, I didn’t think anything was out of the ordinary. We ordered our drinks and were just chatting with everyone when the bookcase opened and some people filtered into the room. I looked behind me, as my back was to the bookcase, and didn’t think anything about it. Then I did a double take and realized I knew the people who were walking into the room. All of a sudden, it hit me. I started shaking like crazy and put my drink down. AJ pulled me to my feet, and he got down on one knee. And then my mind went blank–I was so overwhelmed with emotion, crying and shaking, that I don’t remember a word that he said!! Thank God he saved his speech on his phone so I could read it later 🙂 I do, however, remember the love of my life asking me to marry him. I pulled myself together enough to say “YES!!!!”. And then he slipped the most perfectly beautiful ring on my finger. I have never been so happy in my entire life!

And now I get to spend the rest of my life with my perfect match. I finally got my man! 😉
