Romantic and intimate wedding in Bow Bridge

Tell us about your wedding! What was the inspiration behind your day? Did you have a specific theme, style or color palette?

My husband and I wanted to wed in the Autumn season. Central Park was a beautiful location for the wedding as we wanted a place that was meaningful to us both, relatively easy to access, a true NYC experience, and a lovely backdrop. We decided on Bow Bridge which was perfect! The theme was around Autumn colors, using a burnt orange, wine, and navy blue palette to bring in the colors of the environment to life.

Let’s talk wedding decor. How did you decorate your space for the ceremony and the reception?

For the ceremony, since it was right off the Bow Bridge, we did not bring any decorations. We did however have a cello musician there to play songs before and after the ceremony. Additionally, we used rose petals at the end of the ceremony to celebrate. We had a small reception around Times Square. We had more of a rustic, romantic Autumn theme with pumpkins, sunflowers, and twigs in abundance, along with small candles and soft lights to fill the ambiance. The reception complimented our theme as it has a fireplace and antique feel inside. It was beautiful! We purchased mostly everything but the cake was inspired by the theme, with red, orange, and white roses topping it off. We did have favors which we put together on our own. They were “Fall in Love” mugs, and we prepared hot chocolate bags in the mugs with fake autumn leaves surrounding the glass in the box. It was a hit!

What were the florals like in your wedding? Did you use flowers in any of your design elements like the bridal bouquets, centerpieces or ceremony backdrop? Did they play an important part in the overall style of your wedding?

For florals, my bouquet along with my maid of honor’s bouquet, were in Autumn themed colors. It was a lovely arrangement of roses, hydrangeas, chrysanthemums, and others. My husband and the best man had their boutonnieres to match us. To bring in the Autumn theme, we also had our male dog with his burnt orange bow tie, and our female dog with her autumn inspired collar. The florals were definitely important in the wedding and brought together our theme both at Bow Bridge and our reception.

Did you personalize the day in any way (food trucks, guest entertainment etc.)? What were some of your favorite parts of your wedding?

My favorite part of the wedding was taking our photos in Central Park. Florencia, our photographer, did a fantastic job in taking in the Central Park backdrop and making it stand out perfectly in our photos. Additionally, sine we had our dogs with us, she also took great photos of them alone and playing their important role in our big day. The second best part was being with our guests in the intimate setting of our reception. We had a wonderful time together and enjoyed everyones company sharing our big day with us.

Let’s talk fashion. How did you both choose your wedding day look? Describe the looks in detail.

I wanted something that would tie in the Autumn theme, being romantic and classic. For me, this meant long sleeves with lace and a dress with a very small train. I found the perfect dress that had these qualities, along with it being off the shoulder style, and a slit on the left side of the gown. It was perfect to walk around Central Park with, and the temperature was 67 degrees, so perfect overall. My husband had a blue suit on with a burnt orange tie and handkerchief to match the colors of our wedding. The look overall along with the florals and the environment tied it all together creating wonderful memories for us both.

How did you meet? Tell us about the proposal.

My husband and I met on a dating app! We texted back and forth for a few weeks before finally meeting, but when we did finally meet in person we had that chemistry where we knew it would last. Fast-forward about two years later, we were scheduled to take a trip for our second anniversary to Napa, but since we live in NYC and the pandemic prohibited travel, we canceled Napa and instead went to the Hamptons for a lovely week there. On our first day there, we went to one vineyard and then wanted to do dinner by the beach. While we were waiting for our dinner reservation, we took a stroll on the beach nearby. About ten minutes into our walk, he proposed. What a romantic man!7. What was the most anticipated or special moment of your wedding day?

I was nervous about getting to Central Park on time! Given traffic in NYC, but even more-so when I was walking over the Bow Bridge. While walking towards our group, and seeing my husband waiting at the alter for me, it was a dream come true. Moreover, having our closest family and friends there, that meant the world to us. Loved every moment of our wedding day.

Do you have any wedding planning or marriage advice that you’d like to share with other couples planning their day?

I had some people voice their opinions on location, timing, who to invite; etc. but at the end of the day, it matters what you both want – only. It is your day, your happiness. Everyone that you want to be there, will share this special time of your life with you.
