Tyler & Laura met in college at Texas A&M. They are a cool, edgy couple who just love to be goofy together. All smiles on their wedding day!

Tell us about your wedding! What was the inspiration behind your day? Did you have a specific theme, style or color palette?

We wanted to have our wedding done in the winter because Christmas is our favorite holiday and it’s always a joyful part of the year. Our color scheme ended up being winter colors; gold, dark green, and maroon. We did communion during our wedding and mixed different colored sand to represent us becoming one.

Let’s talk wedding decor. How did you decorate your space for the ceremony and the reception?

We use a lot of cut wood, pine/pine cones, and gold to accent the tables, and walls. Our table centerpieces we DIY. We used wine bottles and things bought from hobby lobby.

What were the florals like in your wedding? Did you use flowers in any of your design elements like the bridal bouquets, centerpieces or ceremony backdrop? Did they play an important part in the overall style of your wedding?

Primarily maroon and white roses were used along with holly and pine. We used several wreathes in our decoration which were decorated in a similar fashion.

Did you personalize the day in any way (food trucks, guest entertainment etc.)? What were some of your favorite parts of your wedding?

We had a smores bar, special wine that was made right down the road, and “naked” cakes which used less icing than normal. They were red velvet and strawberry shortcake. Our favorite parts of the wedding included the “shoe game”, the “naked” cakes, and of course, the dance floor (more specifically our drunk friends dance).

Let’s talk fashion. How did you both choose your wedding day look? Describe the looks in detail.

Since it was a winter wedding, we wanted to go with the longer sleeve dress. Laura wanted some uniformity along the bridesmaids dresses, so I asked them to pick out dresses that were dark green and floor length, but they could be any style they wanted. The groomsmen just got regular suits that were accented by the winter color theme we had.

How did you meet? Tell us about the proposal.

We met in college at a western bar. On our three year anniversary I got the owner of the bar to put, “Laura, will you marry me?” on the old-timey sign on the outside of the bar. I tricked her into thinking I lost my ID at the bar and asked her to marry me with the sign.

What was the most anticipated or special moment of your wedding day?

Watching all of our family and friends travel literally hundreds of miles to come celebrate, and have a good time with us.

Do you have any wedding planning or marriage advice that you’d like to share with other couples planning their day?

Just go to Vegas. Just kidding… plan as much as you can, as early as you can.
