From the Photographer

Spring of 2020 changed our world; changed everything. As a photographer, spring is always busy wedding season, and of course my favorite time of the year. I love Charleston’s perfect spring weather, which brings a lot of flowers and the moment when the oaks change leaves – what gives to spring fall colors and makes everything softer and more colorful, exactly how it was a few weeks ago when Marie and Joel got married.

Now, when we are all staying at home, we still can enjoy Charleston’s spring in a very unusual way – we can’t work, we can’t visit friends, we can’t enjoy nature how we used to. But what can we do? How will we get through this crisis? And I do have an answer! Actually, I found the answer working on Marie and Joels’ wedding gallery. And it’s very simple – love, family and nature. These are three things which will save us; will make us better and stronger. Marie and Joels’ wedding day was full of love, and not only their love as a couple, but love from their families and friends. It was so nice to see all generations spending time together and enjoying this moment.

I remember the first time I met Marie and Joel at our engagement photo session. They came with two dogs – serious Jackson and their adorable puppy Elle. Of course, the engagement pictures turned out absolutely cute. I was so excited to photograph Marie and Joel with their dogs on the wedding day! I have to mention my favorite detail from this wedding – a bar menu with Jackson and Elles’ portraits on it. Marie and Joels’ little family inspired me. Family – that is what supports us and makes us stronger.

When I asked Marie why they chose Old Wide Awake Plantation as their wedding venue, the answer was simple – because of its history and natural beauty. Marie chose white, yellow and green as the main colors. They picked plants as wedding favors, which for me was an absolutely great idea. We should do our best to improve the ecological situation on the planet. We should not only love nature but save. Stay home with family and pets – enjoy nature! The couple has been together for almost five years.

They have a very warm and cozy atmosphere surrounding them, which makes me feel that they will be happy together. They plan to travel a lot, develop themselves professionally and enjoy their lives together. The bride and groom looked like the happiest people in the world. Starting from the moment of preparation and ending with walking down the aisle, everything seemed to be perfect. The wide wrap-around covered porch, a welcoming outdoor space for seating or simply receiving, the ivy covered archways… The wedding was a lot of fun: all the guests were dancing, the bride and groom shone with happiness, and the beautiful lighting complemented the general fun. The table was full of various goodies, and the most adorable addition was a wedding cake. Marriage is a turning point in their lives. After such a stunning wedding, there will definitely be a lot of things to remember!
