From the Photographer

Marissa and Bryce met in 2012 when Bryce transferred to her workplace. Marissa immediately loved how Bryce had the ability to make her laugh even when she may have had a very terrible day. Besides being hilarious, Bryce has always been so kind and loving with her. Bryce feels like he can always be himself around Marissa, which is so important to him because he tends to joke around a lot. He loves everything about Marissa and her company. Marissa and Bryce enjoy going to the drag racing track, binge watching Netflix, playing video games, and playing with their dogs together.

In 2018, Bryce proposed to Marissa on their yearly ski trip. Every year they travel to the mountains in North Carolina, so nothing was out of the ordinary. As they were skiing down the mountain, Bryce asked her to stop halfway down. She thought they were going to take a picture, but instead Bryce proposed!

Marissa and Bryce were married at Hyatt Regency Clearwater Beach Resort and Spa’s 16th floor sky terrace overlooking the beautiful view of Clearwater Beach and surrounded by their loved ones. Congratulations Marissa and Bryce, may your days be filled with enormous amounts of love and laughter!

Tell us about your wedding! What was the inspiration behind your day? Did you have a specific theme, style or color palette?

Bryce and I wanted a simple, yet elegant theme for our wedding. I wanted to incorporate my favorite color, pink, and we thought navy would be a beautiful color to match it. We added in hints of gold to give it a more soft, elegant touch.

Let’s talk wedding decor. How did you decorate your space for the ceremony and the reception?

Most of the beach themed decor came from the venue, the Hyatt Regency hotel. I’ve always been drawn to the beach and was happy to have that extra touch in our reception (without actually being on the beach!) During our ceremony we incorporated two pillars with picture frames. One frame on had a picture of Bryce and his grandfather who passed away in 2015. The other frame has a picture of my dad and I, who passed away in 2018. It was our way of still having our family with us.

What were the florals like in your wedding? Did you use flowers in any of your design elements like the bridal bouquets, centerpieces or ceremony backdrop? Did they play an important part in the overall style of your wedding?

My friend and I actually made all the floral arrangements for the wedding. The bridesmaid bouquets and my bouquet were all made from floral pieces from Hobby Lobby! We were able to use the colors from our wedding and it gave all the girls something to keep that wouldn’t wilt.

Did you personalize the day in any way (food trucks, guest entertainment etc.)? What were some of your favorite parts of your wedding?

We added a photo booth during the reception for our guests to have fun with! It had a ton of props to use and each film strip had our names and wedding date on it. It was a fun activity that guests could use if they needed a break from dancing!

Let’s talk fashion. How did you both choose your wedding day look? Describe the looks in detail.

For Bryce is was easier to get his look down than it was for me! He wanted to stick with the navy and pink theme of the wedding so he opted for a navy tuxedo with pink vests and ties for him and his groomsmen. It took me a while to find my wedding dress. I didn’t know it was “the one” when I first put it on. I only realized I loved it when I compared everything other dress to it. I didn’t want a princess ball gown look for my wedding. My dress was more form fitting and it matched my personality much better than a poofy dress would have! The back of the dress was backless with lace trimmed details that I absolutely loved.

How did you meet? Tell us about the proposal.

We met in Tallahassee working at Publix. He got transferred to my store and we became friends right away. We didn’t think of one another in a romantic way in the beginning. As we grew closer we realized that we did have feelings for one another and eventually began to date. Bryce does an annual ski trip with his dad and some friends that I started to tag along with. In February of 2018 we went up for one last run for the night. He and his friends zoomed down from the lift while I went a little slower (I’m not as good). About halfway down the mountain they were waiting for me to catch up and we rested for a minute. That’s when he dropped to one knee and asked me to marry him! It was beautiful!

What was the most anticipated or special moment of your wedding day?

We were both looking forward to our first look that day. I wanted a special moment with him before our ceremony. The staircase at the entrance of the hotel was the perfect place for me to surprise him and see his reaction.

Do you have any wedding planning or marriage advice that you’d like to share with other couples planning their day?

Plan early! We waited on a few things to plan and that just added some unnecessary stress. Have a planner or notebook to keep track of every little detail. It helps to stay organized.
