Every detail of Meghan and Ed’s wedding reception was stunning, from the lush florals and greenery to the decor pieces that perfectly complemented the rustic barn’s ambiance. The tabletops were sleek with white marble chargers, silver flatware, and gold glowing candles complemented by leafy green centerpieces. Using a combination of string lighting and lush hanging greenery, this statement piece elevated the space to complete the whimsical summer wedding theme. The rustic ambiance of the 19th-century barn paired with chic decor and abundant greens were a whimsical match made in heaven! Bistro lights hung over the outdoor vignette on the patio that would brighten the comfortable lounge space as the evening grew dark.

How’d you two meet?

We met in college back in 2011 at a house party!

Was the proposal a surprise?

It was a total surprise! We were both starting new jobs in Philly and he had to start a few days earlier than me so I went home to visit my family. My mom and I went to Portland Head Light because I hadn’t been in years. I took a picture of the lighthouse and the second I turned around, there he was! He took me down on the rocks and proposed there!

What makes you special as a couple?

We are best friends. The best relationships start with friendships! I friend-zoned him hard, but he kept trying until it finally worked! We balance each other out and understand each other on a deep level.

Why did you choose your venue?

I wanted a Maine barn wedding. I feel in love with it and it was practically in my backyard! Checked all my boxes.

What was your favorite part of your ceremony?

The first look and the rush of getting to the ceremony space with everyone there! It felt like a dream.

What was your favorite part of the wedding weekend?

I loved it all. I really loved our rehearsal day with a lobster bake and the schooner on the Casco Bay. I loved our accommodations in the house and the fact that all my people were around me and I loved dancing the night away with friends and family.

What do you think your guests remember most about your wedding weekend?

They raved about the planners (dancing their butts off), the food and the DJ. They LOVED DJ JON.

Any advice for couples on their wedding day or throughout the planning process?

Do what makes you happy because its your day and ultimately what you want to do is the right thing.

Any other unique moments or details of your wedding you would like to share?

I put my Nanny and Grampy Bob on my bouquet which I loved because they were there with us. We also had Pete Kilpatrick play during the ceremony, cocktail hour and for our first dance. He was so talented!
