From the Photographer

They met when they were 13 years old through mutual friends. A few years after college, they found themselves at the same party with all the same mutual friends and they hit it off!

Frankie and Paige got married in Chicago, Illinois on NYE. It was a BEAUTIFUL wedding and honestly their whole presence was such a joy to be around. Their first dance was to “Lover” by Taylor Swift (I’ve been waiting for this moment since that song was released), but what was unique about it, was their attitudes. Paige changed into a white jumpsuit with a flowing cape. They didn’t make the dance boring or sentimental… they had fun.

Frankie was throwing Paige around the dance floor and the entire room was just full of joy and laughter. After that, Paige danced with her father which had the exact same playfulness and then DANCING QUEEN came on and Frankie and his mom jumped, skipped and danced with joy. It was honestly the most memorable moment to me. They had donuts that suited every dietary need and the company they surrounded themselves with created an eventful night. The inspiration to their wedding day was winter glam with the feeling of cozy, but classic and stylish. They wanted to share bringing in the New Year with their family and friends while celebrating their love for each other.

Let’s talk wedding decor. How did you decorate your space for the ceremony and the reception?

Wanted it to be simple, but still have an impact of a winter wedding. A lot of the decorating was DIY, thanks to my beautiful mom, sister and sister-in-law. They all helped with the decorations. We hand selected the winter decor from craft stores for the shelves and the railings in the venue. My wonderful Dad built the arbor while my mom and sister did the fabric. My sister-in-law hand painted the canvases that said “Forever Midnight Kiss, This Will Be the Best Year Yet” and the Cigar Bar. My mom pretty much decorated my whole wedding night and it turned out so amazing… more than I could have imagined.

What were the florals like in your wedding? Did you use flowers in any of your design elements like the bridal bouquets, centerpieces or ceremony backdrop? Did they play an important part in the overall style of your wedding?

The florals in my wedding were whimsical and classic… white roses, eucalyptus greenery and blue thistles were the highlights. We went for big and lush. Put together, but effortless.

Did you personalize the day in any way (food trucks, guest entertainment etc.)? What were some of your favorite parts of your wedding?

We wanted the music to be amazing and to keep our guests on the dance floor all night! Our musician was amazing. We had a Saxophone, piano and drums playing. Towards the end of the night, Frankie (my hubby), jumped on the drums and piano to play to ‘Kids in Love’. That was one of my highlights of the night for sure! Another favorite part was my Dad secretly requesting to play one of our songs and getting to dance with him again, made my heart so full.

Let’s talk fashion. How did you both choose your wedding day look? Describe the looks in detail.

We wanted to look classy, fun and glamorous. I had to have a second look and the jumpsuit was so fun to change into, made dancing so much easier!

How did you meet? Tell us about the proposal.

Oh that is a long story… We first met when we were about 14 years old through mutual friends. We always had a little crush on each other but nothing ever came out of it. A few years after college we met up again at a party and sparks just flew like the years never passed. The fun and laughs continued and after a few dates, we knew this was it. Only a few months of dating Frankie, he asked if I wanted to move in with him and I went for it! About a year and half later, one early winter morning laying in bed, Frankie slipped a beautiful diamond ring on my finger. His one liner “I want to wake up to you for the rest of my life”… had me saying yes to forever! It was perfect, intimate, just us two living in that moment. I couldn’t have asked for a better way. Later that night, he through a surprise engagement party at The Metropolitan where 80 of our closest friends and family cheered us on, it was magical and a day/night I will never forget! let’s just say he did GOOD, really good 🙂

What was the most anticipated or special moment of your wedding day?

Having all our parents there together, supporting us and loving on us!

Do you have any wedding planning or marriage advice that you’d like to share with other couples planning their day?

Mishaps will happen, do not let that ruin your day. Hopefully, you will have a MOB like I did, she is my super mom! Love you Mom. Also make sure you take the time to look around at all your family and friends who gathered together in one night to support your love for one another. It’s really special. And make sure you DANCE! A LOT!
