From the Photographer

Taylor and Rachel have known each other since elementary school. When asked what Taylor loves about Rachel, he said, “I love her smile, her generosity and that she is kind to everyone.” Rachel says that Taylor is kind, loyal and funny. It is just the sweetest thing to watch they way they look at each other.

Tell us about your wedding! What was the inspiration behind your day? Did you have a specific theme, style or color palette?

I wanted my day to go with the theme of simple elegance. I absolutely love the classic look and I wanted to make sure that it stayed within that realm. For my color palette, I wanted vibrant colors. It was so much fun getting to be different and go with colors that would pop in the Daisy Hill Venue! We made sure to incorporate our Christian beliefs in the ceremony. We had my husband’s childhood youth pastor be the officiant and we did a sand unity ceremony with a lovely acoustic guitarist playing a Christian song.

Let’s talk wedding decor. How did you decorate your space for the ceremony and the reception?

A lot of that flowers were actually from our house that we brought to the venue. We got ferns that we used behind the arbor. We wanted to keep it simple, but add the pops of color through out the venue. The only DIY items were the small chalk table signs we used.

What were the florals like in your wedding? Did you use flowers in any of your design elements like the bridal bouquets, centerpieces or ceremony backdrop? Did they play an important part in the overall style of your wedding?

We used bright colors that would stand out in the venue. Since there is a lot of white, it was so easy to pick the colors I wanted. We had the bridesmaids bouquets as the decorations on the head table. That was they still served a purpose after the ceremony!

Did you personalize the day in any way (food trucks, guest entertainment etc.)? What were some of your favorite parts of your wedding?

Yes, we had fun outdoor games for the cocktail hour. We got cornhole, big jenga and connect 4! We also had an awesome DJ that kept everyone out on the floor dancing. That would have to be my favorite part because I knew everyone was having a good time.

Let’s talk fashion. How did you both choose your wedding day look? Describe the looks in detail.

My dress was a surprise for me. Not what I thought I wanted at all, but it was the very first one I tried on and I knew it was it! It was so simple and very elegant. It fit my theme perfectly! As for the guys, Taylor wanted to go with the navy tuxedo. He knew he liked that look from the beginning. The girls dress color came from a Pinterest bouquet I liked and I decided on that color! Looks awesome with the navy tuxedoes.

How did you meet? Tell us about the proposal.

Taylor and I met when we were in elementary school. However, we did not start dating until we were Sophomores in high school. He proposed to me in December of 2018 on a sail boat down in Ft. Myers, Fl. He moved down there for a job! It was such a perfect day.

What was the most anticipated or special moment of your wedding day?

The whole day was wonderful, but the best moment was when Taylor and I got to sit with each other right after the ceremony and take everything in together.

Do you have any wedding planning or marriage advice that you’d like to share with other couples planning their day?

Some advice is to just take it one step at a time. It is stressful right before the wedding because little things come up, but just take everything in because it will fly by! On the day of don’t worry about trying to control everything because then you’ll miss the special moments while getting ready. What’s going to happen will happen! If it’s out of your control, don’t worry about it!
