From the Photographer

Loosely speaking, Sammantha and Colby have a love story that evolves around stolen bases. When Sammantha and Colby first met on January 4, 2016, the two probably did not ever imagine that their story would end in marriage. Sammantha admitted that, initially, there was no love lost between the two.

Working for the triple-a El Paso Chihuahuas during a grueling 64-baseball game schedule, they eventually found themselves enjoying each other’s company. They went on lunch dates and happily endured sarcasm and wit projected by the other. By Independence Day, they each stole a new Facebook relationship status. However, the two came to a quick crossroads. Sammantha was going to law school in San Antonio, and Colby would be taking a job with the Oklahoma City Dodgers. For a while, this long-distance relationship worked.

Due to distance or insufficient time together or inability to see each other’s face or all of the above, Colby left the Dodgers and found a job with the Spurs. He immediately stole away to San Antonio. Not long after, Sammantha graduated from law school. Colby popped the question in a surprise proposal he arranged with their family and closest of friends. Of course she said YES!!

They began planning for an October 17, 2020 wedding in San Antonio. It was be just outside of San Antonio in the beautiful hill country just on the outskirts of town. But then Covid stole their dream wedding day. Waiting another year was not an option and Sammantha and Colby didn’t want to keep their celebration in a hotbox by postponing a few months at a time. They put off the entire celebration for a complete year and stole an even earlier wedding date by moving the nuptials to as soon as they could. Sammantha and Colby stole the day away, or eloped to the gorgeous Texas hill country outside of Austin, Texas in a very private ceremony. The hillside, open air chapel overlooks a luscious part of south Austin. Even though there were no guests, there was no shortage of emotion or love. It was a super romantic ceremony fit for the ending of a movie.

They incorporated all the traditional parts of a wedding day… the cake, the toasts, the first dance… even the bubble exit! This was a beautiful day indeed. And so quaint and picturesque! Sammantha and Colby will be celebrating with all of their family and closest friends next year, on their one-year anniversary at The Oaks of Heavenly in San Antonio.
