Derek and I first met in Junior High, we went to prom together and have dated for over ten years before getting engaged!

Planning our wedding was so much fun and most of that was because of our events team. Bonnie and her team took care of everything, which left me the ability to focus on the fun details. Derek and I traveled to Cabo many times in the past and fell in love with it, it felt like the perfect spot to get married. We had actually never been to The Acre before our wedding… we booked it, then hired Bonnie and her team and planned the whole thing over the phone and through emails while looking at photos of the venue online. Our first time visiting The Acre was less than a week before our wedding when we first arrived in Cabo! The venue is pure magic and was even better than I could have ever imagined.

We planned our wedding in eight months and it was such a fun process! We didn’t have a wedding party as all of our family and closest friends were there with us anyways. Derek’s twin brother officiated the ceremony and the peacocks squawked and cheered with us as we were pronounced husband and wife. It was so perfect and something you really cannot plan! The Acre is such a special spot in Cabo, it really didn’t need much décor or extra additions to make it any better than it already was.

I wanted my bouquet to be unique and my only request was “don’t make it look bridal”. Bonnie and the floral team nailed it. It was long and had different textures and colors and fit into our venue perfectly! The reception spot in the mango grove is really quite spectacular, it was helpful in keeping the table décor simple. We had white flowers and succulents in funky vases spread along the tables, in between candles of all different heights.

Derek and I sat at a sweetheart table for the reception and I would recommend this to everyone! It was so nice to sit together as Mr and Mrs for the first time and have our own time together. We were able to chat about our mornings getting ready, our nerves leading up to it and just how special it all was. We could not stop saying, “I can’t believe we are sitting at our wedding right now, eating dinner at our wedding… we are the bride and groom!”

Our seating chart was a stunning golf shelf that had champagne flutes from top to bottom. We had each of our guests names engraved on a stir stick with their table number on it and that sat in each of my favorite parts of the reception, it really welcomed our guests in such a unique way. We had a custom neon sign made that said, “The Epps”, which was hung from a mango tree next to our sweetheart table. This was a guest favorite!

Most weddings have a sign welcoming guests to the wedding and they all look pretty standard. I thought… we can do better than that! So I had it made and we carried it on the plane to Mexico with us. We now have it hanging in our new home and it’s such a fun reminder of dancing the night away at our reception in Mexico! The guest favors at each place setting were filled with traditional Mexican candies and each guest also received a hand-painted maraca at their ceremony seat.

We ate the best meal of our lives for dinner that night. It was served family style and our guests were freaking out at how delicious everything was. We danced the night away courtesy of our incredibly talented DJ, the dance floor was full the entire night! He was so good, that we completely forgot about our wedding cake! We ended up cutting a small piece of it to taste and then kept on dancing (ps… it was delicious!). Our last song had everyone gathered in a circle on the dance floor as we all sang and swayed together, it was a moment that could never be recreated.

We spent that night in one of the amazing Acre Treehouses and stayed up until almost 3am talking about how perfect the entire day was. We can’t wait to return for our anniversary!

I loved how Bonnie and her team care of every last detail. I had complete faith in her design style in making our wedding look perfect. It was so nice t be able to walk into the venue knowing that everything was taken care of and we could simply enjoy our day!
