From the Photographer

This album showcases the wedding of Stacy and Danny Lutje. Stacy is a wedding planner at Events by Memory Lane in Raleigh, NC and has been a part of many beautiful wedding days, but there is nothing quite like experience the magic of your own. Their wedding took place the weekend before Covid 19 restrictions began and they both our extremely grateful and blessed that they were able to celebrate their love story with so many of their favorite people!

Tell us about your wedding! What was the inspiration behind your day? Did you have a specific theme, style or color palette?

As a wedding planner, I have walked through many weddings start to completion. But there is nothing like planning all the vision, details, and moments for your own wedding day. When we decided to plan a formal celebration, we knew location would be our starting point. My family primarily resides in Pennsylvania and my husband’s family is in North Carolina. We didn’t know how we could pick one location over another so we decided to meet in the middle and selected the charming little town of Culpeper, Virginia to host our event. You know what they say… Virginia is for lovers!

Let’s talk wedding decor. How did you decorate your space for the ceremony and the reception?

As a planner/designer, I love mixing styles and elements to create a unique mix. Our overall color palette vision was soft and airy, but we both love the edgy vibe of urban/industrial. I wanted to deck out the ceremony and dinner locations with the glow of dozens of candles. I love how the twinkle of candle light appears in our photos. It gave an elegant and intimate touch during our sit down dinner. One of my favorite parts of our design are the dusty blue water goblets we used for our table settings. I had envisioned the blue goblets before we ever selected our venue and was thrilled that the rental company, Bride and Joy Weddings, places a specialty order for us to make my little goblet dreams come true. They are now even named after us!

What were the florals like in your wedding? Did you use flowers in any of your design elements like the bridal bouquets, centerpieces or ceremony backdrop? Did they play an important part in the overall style of your wedding?

Greenery greenery greenery! Because our wedding was entirely indoors, I loved the idea of bringing elements of the outside, in with as many subtle pops of greenery as possible. For our bouquets, I envisioned an organic design with greenery flowing in multiple directions and pops of white blooms throughout. I love how my bridal bouquet stood out with garden roses and anemones, which also made an appearance in the groom’s boutonnière as well. We had greenery throughout our specialty tables, the aisle markers, our front of ceremony arbor, and on all our guests tables. It kept the design simplistic but added an elegant touch of life.

Did you personalize the day in any way (food trucks, guest entertainment etc.)? What were some of your favorite parts of your wedding?

It was very important to us to incorporate special moments throughout our wedding day that reflect our love story and important people in our lives. When we were selecting our wedding party, it took us all of 5 seconds to unanimously decide that all the kiddos that are so precious in our lives would have a special place in our special day. We welcomed a little fun and chaos for the most precious moments with all these cutie pies!

Let’s talk fashion. How did you both choose your wedding day look? Describe the looks in detail.

I wanted to mix in shades of blues and grays throughout the bridesmaids attire. Being in several weddings over the years, I’ve learned that not all dresses fit everyone the same. I wanted my girls to feel comfortable and be able to express their own style. I gave them each a color dress and let them select the dress style of their choice from Azazie. I loved how the color combination complimented our design and how stunning my girls looked in their own unique looks. My sister, played many roles throughout our wedding (Maid of Honor and Officiant were the two main duties she took on). I wanted to her to standout a bit more in a patterned design dress from Jenny Yoo.

How did you meet? Tell us about the proposal.

Danny was a Groomsmen at a wedding I was planning. We met on wedding day. He mentioned to his friends and family at the wedding that he was interested in me. His Aunt approached me towards the end of the night to formally introduce me to her nephew. He gathered up the courage to ask for my number and we’ve been together ever since. Proposal: Danny’s family owns a lake house. We had our first kiss and said “I love you” at the dock at the lake. It has been our special spot. During 4th of July weekend, he invited my parents to join for the weekend to hang out at the lake. We all gathered down at the dock to watch the fireworks display. When I got down to the dock, it was decorated with lights and candles and Danny was waiting out at the end to go down on one knee to ask me to marry him.

What was the most anticipated or special moment of your wedding day?

When walking through the planning process, I discussed the details of a First Look moment with my fiancé’s. Being in the wedding industry, I have seen how intimate and special first looks can be between a couple, but also how they can assist with the flow of the day. My fiancé instantly had his mind made up that we would not be doing a First Look. When I asked him his reasoning, his response made my heart burst. He proposed to me over 4th of July weekend at the lake as I walked out onto the dock to him with many of our family and friends overlooking. He said that was one of his favorite moments and he couldn’t wait to see me for the first time on our wedding day walking down the aisle to him surrounded by all the love of our favorite people. I was sold and it was one of the best moments of our wedding day to experience the pure emotion and love in that moment. Not to mention the precious photos that were captured!
