There are some brides that are extra special, and Terese is one of them. I have had the pleasure of watching her grow from a self-conscious middle schooler into a beautiful, poised, and confident young woman. Terese, a powerful golfer who played at the collegiate level, is the epitome of the saying “though she be but little, she is fierce.”
Terese and Justin officially met on June 25th, 2016 at Tranquilo Golf Club in Orlando, Florida. Terese was playing in the Florida State Golf Association’s Summer Mixed Championship with her friend, Jimmy Jones Sr., and Justin was the Tournament Director for the event. Justin went over to clear the practice area before the first round and purposely walked by Terese to say good morning and of course discuss the Florida heat. As many people know, talking about the weather is always a good way to break the ice! Following the conclusion of the Championship, Terese sent a message to Justin over Facebook thanking him for a wonderful event. Justin, totally oblivious to Terese’s actual intentions, started talking about the difference between Bermuda grass and bent grass. Needless to say, the conversation didn’t last long.
A few weeks later, Justin thought he saw Terese on a putting green at Buckhorn Springs Golf and Country Club in Valrico, Florida. He immediately got excited and went over to say hello to the left handed girl putting on the practice green. Caught up in his excitement, he forgot Terese was a right handed golfer and he proceeded to kick this mystery girl’s golf ball off the green as a joke on his way to say hello. Unfortunately for Justin, this girl was OBVIOUSLY not Terese and the conversation did not exactly go as he had planned. After taking a few days to get over his embarrassment, Justin sent a message to Terese telling her what he had just done. Justin and Terese haven’t stopped talking since that message was sent on July 23rd, 2016 at 8:44 AM.
After a few days of poking fun at one another, Justin and Terese went on their first date. The original plan was to see Tarzan, Terese’s favorite movie, but Justin called an audible (scared that the new Tarzan wouldn’t live up to expectations) and they went to see Secret Life of Pets instead. At the end of the movie, they took a drive down to the pier at the end of Bayshore Blvd in Tampa, Florida and sat there and talked for hours. They talked about everything and anything you could possibly imagine. Family, friends, fears, favorite things, least favorite things, birthdays, life goals, and anything else they could possibly think of. The way they talked was if they had known each other their whole lives.
On August 3rd, 2016, Terese and Justin went to Fox Hollow Golf Club to play some golf together. After hooking his ball into the water on the 13th hole, Justin needed to find a way to be a little more positive for the rest of his round. After some words of encouragement from Terese, Justin asked Terese to be his girlfriend on the 14th tee. Terese said yes and went on to whoop his butt for the last few holes. Losing on the golf course continues to be a consistent outcome for Justin.
A few weeks after the two started dating, Terese had to leave for school as she went to Mercer University in Macon, Georgia. The two promised each other that they could tackle long distance and would talk as much as they could. Justin and Terese would visit each other whenever they had a weekend or a night to do so. The middle ground between them was in Lake City, Florida and they often would drive 3 plus hours to spend only a few hours together. The typical night included dinner at Texas Roadhouse, an Armstrong favorite, as the bread is so damn good! The relationship started with more fireworks than the two ever thought was possible. The conversations were long and full of laughter and the support they gave one another each day was something so many people wish they had. It didn’t take long before they knew they were the love of each other’s life.
In May of 2017, Justin couldn’t wait another minute to ask Terese to marry him. Terese and Justin were on vacation in Orlando, Florida and were headed to Disney World with their friends Kyle and Jessica Vann. With a ring in his pocket, on the street right in front of the castle, Justin asked Terese to marry him in front of hundreds of people walking by. They went on to have one of the most incredible days of their life in one of their favorite places. Terese’s favorite place is Disney World and Justin knew this is where he should ask Terese to spend the rest of their lives together. One of the first rides they went on following their engagement was Splash Mountain and they took one of the funniest pictures with their friends: They knew with Terese being in college that they wanted to wait to get married until she was finished with school and she still had nearly two years left. The two continued to make trip after trip back and forth to Macon and Tampa and fell more and more in love with every visit. They have been best friends since the first date. There hasn’t been one moment that the two haven’t wanted the very best for one another. They would travel to the ends of the earth for hours on end if it meant spending just a few moments with one another.
On a beautiful day in Tampa, Florida, at the Kapok Special Events Venue, surrounded by their closest family and dearest friends, Terese emerged from behind a curtain as Etta James’ ‘At Last’ played, and her proud father walked her down the aisle. Justin and Terese said “I do” at last….
