A beautiful spring wedding at the historic Powel Crosley Estate in Sarasota FL. It was an incredibly romantic day, with gorgeous florals and a sweet couple.
Our wedding day was perfect. We had beautiful Florida spring weather for an outdoor wedding. I wanted our day to be peaceful and the private estate on the water was exactly what we were looking for. My main inspiration was to have a beautiful lush garden feel with whimsical flowers and lighting everywhere to set the tone for a romantic evening.
The wedding space was naturally beautiful on its own, I used mostly florals and lighting to accentuate the natural beauty of the venue.
The florals were the most important aspect of the wedding design for me. I absolutely love flowers and used them for all of the decorating. We had a grand arch with blush curtains and asymmetrical floral arrangements for the ceremony backdrop. Gorgeous bride and bridesmaid bouquets made up of garden roses, ranunculus, anemones and many other flowers in every shade of pink with touches of dark purple and lush dark greenery. The flowers were draped in garland running the length of the long banquet tables and in large gold vases on the round tables. We had flowers on the staircases and mantle of the fireplace. They were so important to achieving the romantic lush garden feel that I wanted for our wedding.
We personalized the day by creating a list of songs we love that played while we sat for dinner and toasts. We chose a selection of classic country love songs that added to the romantic feel during our sunset dinner under the beautiful twinkling lights.
I wore a fit and flare dress that had white beading throughout. I added beaded cold shoulder sleeves that were removable so I was still able to dance and move freely. I wanted to look classic and beautiful so I went with soft flowing curls and natural glam makeup. My husband wore a dark navy suit with a white shirt, brown dress shoes and matching belt. He had a dark green tie with navy dots in it as well. His suit and tie were slightly different from the groomsmen suits and ties so that he stood out from them a little.
We met through mutual friends when I was in my last year of college and he was in Law School, I wasn’t quite ready for him then, but a few years down the road when we had both grown up and established lives and careers we met again and hit it off instantly, we have been together ever since. He proposed in our kitchen the night before my birthday, he made sure to get home before me and had flowers, candles and champagne for us. I walked in the door and he got down on one knee and asked me to marry him. It was intimate and romantic, perfect for the two of us.
The most special moment of our wedding day was definitely exchanging rings, vows, and saying I Do with all of our family and friends there to witness and celebrate our love.
