And, all of the possible great existential achievements, lightness remains my favorite. I don’t know exactly where I heard this sentence, nor of who it is by, but the idea behind this photo shoot is precisely to create something that we really liked and that could not be schematized with defined labels.
The undefined geographical location: an Italian countryside, the outer space of a very cosy cloister and the bright interior space give the photos a slightly indefinite atmosphere, as with the haute couture dress from a few seasons ago and the eccentric but not precious jewels. There is a continuous game of what it could be but it is not … the elements of the traditional wedding are lightened and desacralized to obtain a relaxed, fresh, modern atmosphere. We played with colors, space and light and we hope that all of this entertains you as much as it did us during the making of the shoot.
We chose a beautiful Villa in the wonderful countryside near Todi as our location: the magnificent local pink stone with which it is built seems to light up and reflect the faint spring sun. We immediately fell in love with the design of this location, carefully furnished with a refined and international taste, full of eclectic objects of various origins and works of art. The young model has a very natural Mediterranean look: her makeup, skillfully applied by the makeup artist Alice Quartarone, is natural and bright and enhances the model’s particular beauty. She is wearing a champagne-colored silk brocade dress that enhances her olive complexion; the clean lines and large application on the back give the dress an elegant but sober look. Shoes are a touch of brilliance: we used two models of shoes, both handcrafted by Massimo Calzature, an Italian company that produces custom-made bridal shoes. Even the jewels are unique pieces made by a local craftsman in gold and mother-of-pearl: we particularly liked this stone for its opacity and ductility.
Flowers are an accent of color. Going away from the classic palette with shades of pink, we tried to maintain a romantic look by deviating into tones of apricot, cream and pale orange and using olive branches, ranunculus and English roses for the compositions. We set up the dining area by creating a table with a real mise en place (only on one side) that develops around a large olive tree in the centre of the cloister. We tried to use materials with natural tones as much as possible: pure natural undyed linen tablecloth, tall rust-colored candlesticks, faceted crystal for glasses that glow in the sun and candle light.
The chromatic monotony is broken by the vibrant notes of silk napkins resting casually on the plates and the rhythmic succession of the flowers of the rich festoon. We tried to personalize every aspect of the service by also creating watercolor graphics, a small ice cream corner and drinks and perfumes from a local company.
