This shoot was completely inspired by the aesthetic of the venue. Mine Hill Distillery is a brand new venue in Connecticut that hadn’t even opened at the time of this shoot. The venue was once an old train station – Roxbury Station. It has been recently restored and the venue combines cool, modern elements with historic characteristics. You get a sense of stepping back into the 1920’s the moment you step onto the property while still enjoying luxuries of today.

The goal for this engagement-style shoot was to create a look that capitalized on the beautiful outdoors space while also creating an intimate, bistro-style picnic that our couple would enjoy together. The backdrop for this picnic is a beautiful waterfall overlooking the Shepaug River. The distillery elements lent themselves perfectly to our moody, mysterious theme. The owner of the property designed this beautiful, oversize door set out in the middle of the forest that was the perfect complement to the rest of the images. It really sets the tone as if walking through this door transports you back in time to an almost prohibition-era like mood.
