From the Photographer

Here in Milwaukee, we see a lot of blush pinks and soft colors, romantic florals and traditional weddings. While we appreciate the tried and true, there is another side to Milwaukee that we wanted to showcase. Milwaukee is, after all, known for breweries, motorcycles, and has its fair share of unique, creative individuals. So we wanted to bring a bit of that edge into this styled shoot.

River Valley Historic Venue is a new venue to the city, complete with Cream City brick and wonderful windows to let in that afternoon sunlight. We wanted to style this shoot in a way that could stretch from spring into fall, so we used various tones of blue, warm golds and touches of greens in tones from chartreuse to mint. Our model, Gina, has tattoos, so we wanted to offset that with a unique but feminine dress – so we were excited to find this pale blue Theia dress and a coordinating Martina Liana veil. Gina’s makeup was subtly glam, and her hair was styled in a 90’s throwback kind of way. We brought on The Bevy Bar, a mobile bar (complete with the most adorable retro-modern wallpaper) and styled Gina with both a denim and leather jacket. We want to show brides that it’s A-OK to let their selves shine through the details of their wedding day; to not be afraid to combine throwback hairstyles with modern and romantic gowns. To add watercolor touches to their cake, opalescent glasses to their tablescape and combine cool tones and soft fabrics with rough brick and warm, distressed wood.
